Hi guys - I recently bought a 2023 V100S (I’m the second owner). There is some paint bubbling on the rocker covers that is the subject of an existing (approved) warranty claim, but there’s also some engine paint bubbling near the bottom of the engine and on the front on the timing cover. I’ve contacted a local dealer and asked them to lodge a claim on my behalf - he assures me he has done so but commented ‘once they start bubbling it’s difficult to stop it coming back’. Anyone here been through this process? How long did it take to resolve and was it resolved to your satisfaction ? TIA. in the meantime a bit of eye candy with the pannier lids, fender extender, and hugger painted to match the bike.
A friend of mine had paint bubbling on his BMW 1250……they replaced the whole engine under warrantee!!
Whilst that may have solved the problem it seems awfully wasteful and also makes me wonder if an R1250 engine is so cheap to BMW that it is less than the cost of some paint?
Just noticed the paint blistering (on the valve covers) on my 2024 V7 Special Edition.
Did you get yours resolved via warranty in the end?
The claim for rocker covers, sump and front cover has been approved. The dealer is just waiting for delivery of the gaskets. So fingers crossed.
Oh brilliant. That’s a good result for you, hopefully the new items last.
I’ll give my dealer a call tomorrow and see if they can help me out.
Thanks for the reply.
Fingers crossed for you. Paint lifting on the rocker covers is a common warranty fault on the various FB V100 groups.
update for those that come after - I’ve had the rocker covers, front cover and sump replaced under warranty. Many thanks to Central Bikes (London). Now pursuing a claim for re-painting the crankcases (Central Bikes couldn’t find a painter willing to take on the job).
When we made bikes here we had ways of stopping the paint bubbling (1) don’t paint the engine (2) arrange for a continuous oil mist to stop any corrosion (3) ensure that some bits fall off so that the owner replaces them before noticing any corrosion
