What did you do with your Guzzi today ? 2017 .......

 …good one Pete…

Still painting bits of Spada, and preparing more bits…

Bit of time fitting carbs to the NTX, sorting relay wiring for an improved output on the Mongrel’s hooter, check for loose and missing parts ahead of a run out tomorrow morning.
Spent an hour with Brian and Julie Clay this afternoon catching up on interesting stuff including Guzzis.
Happy days

Spent an hour scratching my head looking at all the wires on my new wiring loom for the Ambassador police. Pffff, I don’t like it, I don’t like it at all. So many connections, sub harnesses it’s a spaghetti bollockmaze!

Short run out in the breezy and grey morning to a classic/custom car meet in Stone, Staffordshire.
Bacon butty and several tea refills kept the cool at bay.
Interesting mix of cars and bikes from Mk1 Escorts to a newish Holdem pick up. A lone MZ ridden by Nigel Shuttleworth, plenty of Harleys representing two local HOG chapters, a few ‘boiled sweets’, factory customs and lots of Triumphs.
Moto Guzzi represented by Ranton Rambler’s loop and my Mongrel.
Back home to carburetors and relays.
happy days
Steve

Removed the V11 steering damper rose bearing and gear linkage rose bearings for replacenent. Left the Breva out in the rain whilst I did the aforementioned.

Rode it to the Essex Branch meet at Leigh on Sea. Great Company and Fantastic Cake.

“Boiled sweets” ??

We heard loads of concrete mixers whilst beaverin away in the dry dock…

Finally finished the minor overhaul and application of 60s sci-fi ‘miniaturisation ray’ on the wife’s Breva this weekend. The downside is this has freed my bike lift for all the jobs on the other bikes that have somehow surfaced during this work :frowning:. Ten year old Breva is running like a new bike and feels as small as a V50, so mission accomplished. We still have some weight-shedding to do (and the bike  ) with a lighter set of pipes so eyes are open

Jon

Images ? Love to see how you have customised a great bike.

Think of a boiled sweet with the wrapper twisted at each end.
In a certain light and to a certain mind it looks like the silhouette of a sports bike.
Maybe…
Steve

Rode the Beetle down to Stone in the sunshine…on a mission to get some protective glaze on my newly scumbled roof section on the boat…all went well till I clambered off the roof onto the gunwhale…there was a gentle plop…and I looked down at the water…to see my fone…slowly sinking into the depths of the murky water…just like Leonardo di Caprio in Titanic…
Bollox…said I…bank cards …drivers licence etc…all in my fone wallet…jeans and jacket off…and in I jumped…water depth to my chin…very silty…but I seemed to have struck lucky…appeared to be standin on some sort of large flexi pipe…mite even have been a tyre…felt round with my feet…located a solid object…turned out to be a piece of wood…totally covered in mussels…
After bout 5 minutes…located fone and whilst holding on to the gunwhales…managed to grasp it twixt my feetand get it to a level where I could cop hold…
Amazingly…twas working…but I pulled it apart to dry it…an hour later reassembled it…whereupon…it switched on but no display so I went for it…and using a miniature screwdriver set from a Christmas cracker.I unscrewed the back…used a clean nylon brush to dust the circuit board off…reassembled it…and Voila…workin perfect…Phew…Guzzi club membership card in there too…so Kate Birbeck had a soakin as well…

I’ve heard of some poetic descriptions in my time but I’m sorry, I just don’t get this one. Maybe I went to the wrong Skool . Reminds me of the ‘teapot’ nickname given to the GSX600 of the nineties.

Jon

Brilliant story! I had no idea how dangerous boats can be - even more so than motorbikes . On a more practical note, I wonder if your fixing method would be successful on the ECU or the clocks of a drowned bike? No, I’m not volunteering.

Jon

Kate: that was amazing! Mucho respek…

Jon: no I still don’t get it either!

I am told that dropping it into rice will dry it out as well.
Edit to add, if you lick your fingers whilst using your phone I would disinfect it first.

Didn’t actually use one today as it was very wet, but yesterday I used the V9 to go to the dentist. Jolly chilly. Tomorrow to Worplesdon for college.

Took the V7Sport for an MOT. Not as easy to ride as the loop when wearing the weightlifting belt to protect my back!

There’s a new young mechanic at the garage who looked at the bike open-mouthed when I arrived. The garage owner just said to him “told yer”. Turns out this 17 year-old lad is fascinated by 60s and 70s bikes and cars. There is hope.

As usual my MOT was accompanied by tea, biscuits and pleasant chat. Then the £25 changed hands and I got my certificate.

Spent the rest of the day at my mate’s house where we’re waking up a V50 that’s been allowed to hibernate too long.

Hmmm!
