Went for a pootle with Oafski. Saw some wildlife. Had a close encounter with a big cock pheasant. Thankfully not of the third kind. Goodness Gracious Me, those birds are dumb ( and slow ).
Also, nearly ran over a weasel, or was it a stoat ??? He was definitely quick.
All the thrills! ![]()
Yep the pheasants can be a right ol’ hazard.
Re the small animals, some while ago I remember seeing a small furry thing sprinting across the road, couldn’t see its feet cos they were moving so fast just a blur so looked like it was floating along ![]()
You know how to tell which…
One is weasily recognised, the other is stoatally different. Sorry!
Took a run out on the Spada to go and see Adam Bolton to pick up a petrol tank for my latest Stornello project. Great ride out.

Fired up Jug on Sunday for the first time since lock down and headed out for the Essex branch meeting. Only running on one and wouldn’t clear heading off down the road so returned. Back on the yard I found the RH HT lead dangling forlornly. Doh.
Yep. That will do it every time. ![]()
On my 07 Nevada;
Lowered the battery, rejigged the battery retainer and resighted the fuse holder.
Built a new tool bag receptacle under the OEM.
Wired in a phone charging system in the former tool tray.
Repeat similar on V11 tomorrow.
Time to pull Jug out and see if she’ll fire up. Don’t think this one has been run since the bad weather struck at the onset of last winter. Has all been serviced since, and now sports a pair of US style hard panniers for increased load carrying capacity. Assuming all goes well then I’d best buy some Road Fund License.
A few shake down runs and then maybe a roll out Edinburgh way.
Ummm ? Do you mean “Blue” Mr Butch. According to your post of June 30th you took Jug to Megarry’s Tea Shop on June 28th.
Perhaps you have too many bikes. ![]()
I was pondering that one as well. Saw the photos of jug at the meet up on facebook.
Wash your mouth out!
Oops and indeed, Blue it was. Bought some tax and took a ride out just yesterday. Despite the layup she fired up pretty much on the button and was soon ticking over like an Italian watch (is that good?). Put in 125 miles mostly on the more minor roads of Suffick, just crossing into Norfolk at the top end of the ride. Problems? An annoying resonation that sounded like it was the tank but turned out to be the glass in the offhand mirror, and losing a screw from one of the front indicator lenses - fixed with electrical tape from the goody bag whilst I was out there somewhere.
And yes, I really should be offloading some more bikes, but neither Blue nor Jug will be on that list.
Thinking about simplifying the rack attachments for those occasions when I bolt the flapper bracket on Blue.
Hoping to be be doing a little off roading this coming weekend, but that will be on the (Suzuki) SP.
Rode to Broomfield Hospital on the Stelvio today for a liver scan, the good news is I still have one!
The bike is running well, I have decided to take it to Newcolbe Bros for them to do the suspension link bearings and a few other jobs that were flagged up on the MOT in March, but still not sorted.
It looks like I’ll still be bikeless for 19th July.
Looked at the loose front indicator lens on Blue on Saturday. One screw was gone, the other loose. Found that the threaded holes for these are both broken out in the body of the unit. Had to electrical tape the lens back on, not ideal because of the way the earthing tongue presses against the side of the bulb.
Fitted a second RAM mount to the bars so I can run my route planner on the Galaxy S7 alongside the aging and failing TomTom Rider.
Got a couple of minor points to prep ready for the long ride to Dumfirmline on Saturday.
In other news I was off roading around the Essex lanes yesterday on the long range SP(370).

Dug this out…
A short ride out on Blue last night to Maldon with the CBN boys. My new panniers were useful for conveying their fish and chips down to the yards by The Jolly Sailor. Had a short run on the A12 on the way home and she’s running good up to 85 per (indicated).
So all good to head North tomorrow I reckon.
Parked it in the garage after a 1200miles roundtrip to Switzerland and won’t look at it for at least a week
.
Maybe just a ‘wee look’ to get rid of half the swiss insect population, who insisted to come along and a bit of mud! We were after all at the Quota Treffen
Cheers Uki
Been working on my Stornello projects, loosely assembling bits and pieces to see what I have and what i need.

Phil, your bike looks awesome. It doesn’t look like it’s been “dug out” of anywhere. More like you keep it in the house. How do you keep that white frame so shiny ???
