I’ve done very little on my Tonti over the past few months but after a stay in hospital for my heart I have resolved to get back on the case.
Brake and clutch levers are getting a full going over prior to fitting a new front brake master cylinder piston. Then I can fit them to the bars with the switches (already refurbished) and finish off the front end.
Next job after that is to rotate the bike on the hydraulic table so I and fit back wheel and brake. Maybe 2026 will be the year I finally get her back on the road!
Ahh a Clackie biker. Well done because the temps could not have been much better than Kirkcaldy. I actually keep my bike in North Fife, less than ideal.
Have not stopped at Powmill in a long while but their goodies are second to none!
I only got m first Moto-Guzzi last week, a non running V50 in need of restoration.
After finally completing the last detail on my Suzuki GS500 four cylinder, we thought we’d see if we could fire up the Guzzi. Ten minutes plugging in various unplugged wires, a temporary fuel tank connected and it fired up easily and sounded really nice. Very happy.
My wife bought it for me as a Christmas present. Quite a surprise! Its all there and mostly not bad but needs a good clean up and putting back to original.
I started the strip down of my V50ii project bike today. This is my first Guzzi and Im really impressed with the quality of the bike, quite a lot more solid and better finished than my 1982 Suzuki GS.
The frame needs blasting and powder coating and the mudguards need a respray but most bits just need a thorough clean.
Went out for a short ride to get petrol on the Griso this morning…45 mins getting ready plus getting the bike out on the road. 1 hr or so riding time. Over 1 hour cleaning the bike. 30 mins return to civies and cleaning helmet etc….the tale of a short Winter ride….well that’s what my Missus laughingly said when I’d returned to normal human form
Today Ive been in the garage drinking coffee, listening to progressive metal and scrubbing my V50ii engine. Started with Gunk and a paint brush, hosed it down then on the bench and used Muc Off degreaser spray, a toothbrush and some rags. Its scrubbed up pretty good.
Fluids, filters and valve clearances next. New breather hoses as well. By the time thats done, the frame should be back from the powder coater
Took the Airone out on the Taverners VMCC section boxing day ride. Its first proper outing and first time 2 up, it performed pleasantly well, 60 miles around the back lanes of Leicestershire. My mate was there on his rather nice Galletto.
