What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

Just been to work and back on mine today. Ticked through 18,000 miles though so time to think about another service.

Rode my recently accquired 750 Breva to the Meldreth Manor Bike Show and spoke to a very helpful man on the Haywards stand about engine vibrations at various revs so will shortly be riding up to Cambridge to have the throttle balance checked.

Could be just a coincidence…

Went to the Wednesday night bike meet at Alton. 5 guzzi’s there!

Came back via the Pirbright bends and decided that the tyres need pumping up as I wrestled the bike around. Why do these tubed tyres need constant inflating every couple of weeks with no punctures.

Jmee, was it Halfords petrol resistant laquer by any chance…?

Valves OK?

Rode im and thoroughly enjoyed it. Did however exit the roundabout by Trentham Gardens to be confronted by a little grey squirrel lying in the middle of the road, clearly having just bin hit by the vehicle in front. Girlie that I am I skidded to a halt, dropped me lemon on to its stand and legged it back. Little quirrel was still with us and I didnt want him to be squished. He could move his head and arms, in fact, he clung to me glove. Decided to put him under the hedge on some greenery to see if he mite come to. Do hope so… will go back tomoro and see if he’s there, tree rat I know, but am always reminded of a carved trough on coming out of Craven Arms, heading towards Shrewsbury, ‘Be kind and Merciful to All Gods Creatures’ . Dunna like spiders tho… guykate2013-06-21 21:48:09

Almost on tubeless tyres the valves can be the weak point

ordered a pair of battlax BT45s from Jim my tyre bloke 170 quids fitted
ordered a service kit from Motomecca who are a pleasure to deal with
just got to find time to get it done
tommorow its fixing my mates Zephry 1100 and seeing if he damaged the motor when the fuel tap flooded it !!

Pulled the tank to replace the throttle cables and found I needed a set of choke cables. See here http://www.motoguzziclub.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=18952

Mounted the relay for the auxillary socket to power the sat nav for the 2013 national rallytris2013-06-22 17:49:58

Fitted a bicycle speedo so I’ve got a better idea of how fast I’m going. The speedo on my LM1000 is way out. Does anyone know why that would be? It reads at least 20mph fast, and even goes up to 10mph while you rev the bike in neutral…

They mostly all do that they don’t call 'em VegLIA by accident the pushbike speedo is well worth it, easy to fit and dial in. Once you know the accurate speed you can refer to the VegLIA knowing what the real speed is.

I have had them 20% slow-20% fast by the 4th one I had was fitted it is reasonably accurate to 70 within the 10% any way and reading within 5% under 50 which is where they really matter.

IF I ever get around to redoing the dash on the Vthou (OR Le Mans) I would consider fitting one of these I did contact them and they can calibrate it for 16-17-18 inch wheels

Looks interesting, although maybe a bit modern for what I’m after. Still got half a mind to cafe the blighter

Vague liar ! My boss tells me it is due to the damping in the instrument…

… he should see somebody about that

They are really awful I had one recalibrated it was spot on for about a year then gradually faded off to go 15% slow… I calibrated the sigma speedo then checked it with the GPS on the console setting.

Nowadays with all the speed cameras about you really do need to KNOW the 30/40/ limits especially and of course the Motorway 70, I guess undereading is OK but 1 I tried overead by almost 20% so 30= almost 40 not good in built up areas.

Went out …got wet …picked up battery for the Virago took ages to fit the damned thing such a tight space, come ON Summer, we is awaiting… guzzibear2013-06-22 20:35:36

I had the bike up to 140mph on the way home from buying it, but reckon I was only doing around 110mph. At lower speeds I can’t gauge my real speed at all. Hence the bicycle computer.

Le Mans r around 17 mph per 1000 rpm in top…:

Had a bit more of a tinker with the bike today. Changed the oil again (just cos the bike’s new to me, I want to make sure it’s not disintegrating), and had a rummage behind the Sprint fairing to see why the lights weren’t working. Turns out one relay had gone missing and the other was almost completely unplugged - a nice easy fix, that’s what I like to see.Was just about to go out and test the bicycle speedo…and it started raining
