Which swingarm...

My ever evolving V50 special tries to thwart my plans. Does anyone know if a different swingarm can be fitted with a wider tyre at all please? I am trying to gauge what options i might have if i wish to potentially use a 120 front tyre which is the width of the standard v50 rear. i fear the answer is that there are no options

I recall that this was always a challenge.
I donā€™t think that any of the swing arms gave more clearance.
But if you are looking with Ā£ the V75s had the most power through that drive train until the v85tt, so those two may have more clearance.

Worth remembering that narrow tyres generally give better, lighter and more accurate handling. They just donā€™t handle 80hp plus well and that is not much of a problem on a v50ā€¦

Indeed the standard size tyres make the V50 a biddable bike on a back road. My intention is to keep the tyre sizes stock but I may be forced to consider the forkā€™s donorā€™s wheel (ZXR) which is 120 wideā€¦canā€™t really go with a wider front tyre than rear, hence my seeking options.

A quick glance on the internet suggests that the rear tyre of a v75 is 120 wide so would be the same as the ZXR front and I presume that rear end wouldnā€™t be a straight swap for a V50.

I have ordered a used disc from the ZXR to see if there is any compatibility with the MG wheel, which I doubt if I am honest.

Yeah, small block uses three lengths of swingarm, but as all of them carry the driveshaft inside, thereā€™s little chance to squeeze anything bigger than 130, Iā€™d say. Check Nevada 750 sizes as this is the fattest one in the pack. And, BTW, remember, that the bigger tyre, the harder it is to squeeze it past bevel when fittingā€¦ another challenge:)

Oh, one more thing, I have this hard-earned knowledge, that tyre size 120-18 just does not fit in case of V50II. The swingarm is just too short. 120/90 yest it will, but 120/100 will not! V35III/V65 use ā€œintermediateā€ length, one inch longer, but V50II uses shortest of three.

Unfortunately, as I am long-term ill, I can see the stack of my Guzzi wheels, but I wonā€™t reach the right one. I have found one on UK eBay with visible tyre size, 120/90/16, and I do confirm again, I did use such a wheel without any alterations in V50II outfit. This is V35 Imola II, the 4-valve head one. Sooner or later into the season I will dig it out if you wish, but not now, sorry! BTW, happy to sell it for a quarter of the eBay price! Located near Manchester, if U ask.
