Yoke top cap unscrewing

Parking up the other day I noticed the yellow witness marks on the yoke top cap ( Bussola fissaggio piastre superiore) weren’t aligned by about 30 degrees. Sure enough, it was finger loose. 5 minutes to sort if you have a suitable 14mm allen key tool - a normal key won’t fit without removing the bars. I used an oil drain plug tool. Worth putting a smear of grease down inside the yoke tube, too; mine had a bit of incipient corrosion. A little bit of Loctite 242 or similar and fresh witness marks for the win. The thread is fine, and in alloy so don’t go mad.

This happened to me too, but mine disapeared!
When my front tyre needed replacing the bike was jacked up for the first time (I don’t have a centre stand) and it became apparent that the head bearings were notchy - disapointing on such a new bike.
I ordered a bearing set from Guzzibits, and the next day I backed the locking ring off a llittle so bearing ran smooth again while I waited for the new ones to arrive. I locked everything up again but after a few hundred miles of use I noticed the cap had disapeared! I assumed I’d not locked it up correctly until I saw your post, so maybe it’s something to keep an eye on in future.
Luckily Guzzibits had a used cap on stock so it was quickly replaced.

The head bearings are still awaiting replacement as they’ve been fine since backing off the presure ring.
