Ian, I’m smitten with your Griso. Please give it to me!
In all seriousness, this bike, especially in Tenni green, has caught my attention more and more in recent months. It did no good at all looking at the lovely examples at the V-Twin and it may be a scratch I need to itch. Ooo-errr!
Jon - No I am sorry - - - I am keeping her. I like the Stelvio and they are more practical for sure. I think you should find a Griso though [ even if only to stick in your house as you say ) which would be a shame as the Griso is very good on the road. I rode her to work yesterday and took the scenic route home. Best day I have had in ages. Ian.
[quote=“Graham UK”]I saw a nice second hand Griso for sale in Twiggers this week. I think it was green, but as I’m partially red/green colour-blind you’d need to check!
I was in there today, definitely Green and they’ve a black one as well
OK, having reasoned with myself to the point of madness I will attempt to have a serious look into this. Can anyone give some advice as to how the reported problems of the 8V engine relate to the Griso?
I have been reliably informed that the AC prefix on the engine number of the Stelvio indicates the engine has the later roller cam followers. Is this the case with the Griso too?
I just checked the engine number of my 1200 sport. It is a Rosso Corsa so definitely made without the chocolate cams and the engine number begins A70. Hope that helps.
The A5 and A8 series motors have all had recorded instances of Cam wear the A7 series motor seems to have been fitted to the 1200 Sport, at the time the club under took the survey the 1200 sport 8 valve motor was quite new to the marked so few had done any mileage so no issues of Cam wear were reported. The Club is trying to find out from when the roller cam follower was factory fitted. I believe that the AC engine prefix was the first of the Roller follower type as Jon said and would be very surprised if the A7 motor was fitted with the later Cam followers but stand to be corrected, How many miles has your 1200 sport done Dukesox.
Regards Keith
Does anybody know when there will be a Griso with ABS and also whether they will just put ABS on the existing bike or whether it will be an all new model?
Off topic, but while I was down at the V-twin area, I nipped down to the tank museum Sundee ~ in the WW1 section was a Mk IV tank, and the engine as a separate display. V12, watercooled, twin overhead valves per cyl. (OHV), single overhead camshafts (SOHC) ~ and shaft driven thru bevel gears ~ AND, rollers on the ends of the rockers! In 1916! It ain’t ‘new’ technology…
