Yes the ‘special tool’ is basically just a 5mm wide strip of steel. Could make similar from brass or summat. Note timing is retarded at that. PS: dunno why 12V coils have to be usedt, at double the current (about 8 Amps?), where 2 x 6V in series will do exactly the same job at just 4 Amps. Just IMHO
Cut up an old feeler gauge
Mike Any thoughts on the Diodes? what do I need to buy?
Those eBay ones you found will no doubt do I think.
If they do not work, let me know and I will bung two in the post to you
I’ve bought the ebay ones, just need to work out a way of mounting them / wiring them in, a bit more sophisticated than a couple of chocolate block connectors!Could I solder on a spade connector to each prong and set them in a block of body filler or A Will soldering on the legs harm them?B Do they need to dissipate heat?
Soldering a spade terminal on will be fine. Just try to minimise the time the iron is heating the diode. They don’t dissipate much heat. I do not have mine on a heat sink
Got a gearbox of PreLoved for £60 so have that bolted onto the engine, getting closer. Soon be time to put it back in the frame
Excellent! I am hankering for a 750 in my Monza now…
The 750 engine and box will be spare when I have rebuilt the Lario engine, just not sure when that will be.
think you will need a 750 swing arm too Tim
Can you not use a V50 3 drive shaft?
Let me know if you are selling it. Can’t promise to buy it tho. Not flush at present!
It will be some time till I have rebuilt the Lario engine to put back in the bike so it wouldn’t be available for some time. But can sure put you down for first refusal.Don-Spada2014-09-18 13:11:40
im sure i read the v75 had a shorter swing arm as the box was longer? Dont hold me to it tho…!
Boxes are all identical. Only the input gears change, as they determine the ratios from 350 to 750. I think V75 swing arm is longer. Certainly wider spaced at axle end, as takes a longer wheel spindle than a V50.
I would like first refusal on the motor, yeah! Is it just the v block?
I already have ignition system, charging system (Saprisa), carbs, & manifolds off a V65. Bet you could flog those bits separately.
No problem, first I have to get it back together and clear some space in the garage so I can get it home. It’s at Ray’s at present. See what the motor is like before making any promises about it!
Thanks for first shout on that.MMM
