My 2000 Jackal has perished intake adapters.

Hello looking for some guidance please, i have a pair of new intake adapter in the post , is there a recommended procedure for removal and installation please ?

Thanks………..all done now.

what way did you do it?

Isolated the throttle bodies by disconnecting the upper and lower brackets and link bar. Then slacken all the hose clips slide air box connectors right up into the airbox which then gives you enough room to manoeuvre the bodies back far enough to get the forward connectors off, to replace just reverse the procedure. Simples.

Further to the new adapters having been fitted i notice now the left hand throttle body link bar is fouling the Air box at about mid- throttle, anyone else experienced this ? Everything is fitted up as close as possible to the intake manifolds , could it be the new adapters are a bit longer than the originals , i have binned the old ones so i can’t check them . Any ideas ?

Loosen up the bolts again and the clips and lube the intakes a little. The tubes will be slightly asymmetric I imagine? It should be a case of wiggle, twist and push to find where you get clearance again? Best I can suggest.

Thanks , will get on it tomorrow , weather permitting , what bolts are you referring to ?

Just do the reverse of what you did to fit the hose adapters to get everything loosely together. Then it’s a case of twisting the adapters around to see if you gain space.

My suspicion is that hopefully you have the right adapters. Also I am betting that rotating them on the intakes you should find will result in separating them from the brackets again.

I’ve hit the same problem with for example exhaust junctions where you have a slightly curved part fitting to another. You just need to find the sweet spot that allows them to go back to the original orientation.

Sorry, it’s hard to explain any more clearly. Twist the adapters a little at a time and see if your gap to the brackets gets wider or narrower?

Gotcha thanks Bud.

Jobs a good’un a little more perseverance twisting the adapters and making sure everything orientated forward has achieved the clearance required , thanks.

Does your bike have a single throttle cable or double as in push and pull? There was a recall for this issue around 2000. Have a read of this old thread.

And this article

Thank you Don , yes the Jackal has the push me pull you cables , the problem has now sorted for the time being , just by making everything pushed forward as possible the clearance with the rear link bar has now been found.
