New Member 1st Guzzi - Flat Tappet Hell

Hello from Shropshire!

Last summer I bought a lovely low milage (6500) one owner 2011 Stelvio FGSH etc

Only after purchasing did I read about the flat tappet issue - now I’m really happy with the bike and want to keep it long term, but I’m having the devils own job trying to find a kit to get the conversion from flat to roller tappets done - they are listed as out of stock or discontinued.

Am I just a few thousand miles away from owning a very expensive paperweight?

I’m happy to invest in the bike but is it too late?

Any advise welcome!

Tim

Welcome. Unfortunately for you, I’m fairly new here myself so know a lot about nothing in terms of Guzzis

Check out the GrisoGhetto website. Guys there know if and how to get any remaining roller kits.

Card engines are beautiful to ride (if in tune and mapped)

But they need the follower fix or they are, as you say, paperweights in waiting

Fowlers of Bristol or TLM Holland had the kits, but to find the right one you need engine number, frame number, registration and some info off the head. It’s because the year doesn’t always tally with the model of engine and or the registration year.

Griso ghetto should have the part numbers in the forum if you search.

Technical discussion on tappers continued here

Thanks Brian. Worse than that I don’t think you can tell the exact kit without removing the cover to check- but I’ll give them a call..

Please continue the technical discussion in the other thread. Helpful to others who may come along later with the same issue. Thanks!
