Try this for Valeo starter motors, I got the link from somewhere elseValeo Starters

This is the one reason why those who advocate hitting the starter with a spanner or similar when it doesn’t engage properly should be shot.

I have never done that Brian and sure as hell never will after having my wallet raped in France for a new starter motor.

I have removed the starter and taken it to a STARTER/ALTERNATOR repair place in Cinderford, Forest of dean. It s a recent Valeo unit, same issue as a prior poster, throws the little gear forward but no spinny??? The guy has had a look, he says the magnets are all hanging off the inside of the body. Martin Vermiere had the same issue with his, I hope to collect mine tomorrow, I shall drop martins off for repair at the same time if the bill is reasonable. Ill keep you guys posted on progress and cost. He says he can get replacement bodies if needs be but does have a few bits there. Hes a nice chap and, depending on outcome, will get a recommendation from me along with his contact details. I have checked in to see your comments periodically, thanks for the input friends!

Cured mine stuck a Bosch one on it…but the FI bikes seem to need the extra puff of the Valeo

More cubes G’bearso harder to turn.

Collected my Starter yesterday, he replaced the main body due to the ‘usual’ magnets glue becoming detatched, bill was £60 plus vat, £72, OUCH, but I guess that beat the £250 for a new one. Fitted last night, spins her up a cracker.

£72 incl. VAT is very reasonable! Considering…

And the new glue is better too.

Lets hope so, thanks for input.
