Anyone know if the large Police /G5 side stand can be fitted to a V65/50
You can buy the weld on bracket to mount the long police side stand so I’m sure it could be welded onto a small block lower frame rail.
Here’s a link to one in the States.
Have a read of this thread from long ago.
Here’s another one that might give you some ideas
I just cut old Nevada side stand bracket off its lower rails and used it successfully and with big relief in my V50. I had to weld it on, but again, this is just lower rail, so everything is reversible, if needed. Plenty of pics with the sidestand in action ever since, while before… it was a substantial risk, and I used to use centerstand:)
Haha! Looks a lot safer than original
Did the updated side stand come with all the parts needed to weld straight onto the bottom rail ?
Your bike looks to be well used Adamigo
It’s dead simple, get lower rail from Nevada with carbs(not sure about later IE model), the sidestand bracket is neatly welded onto the rail. Cut it off and transfer to V50 rail, welding it on in the same way, job done. Will do closer picture tomorrow.
“well used” - I thought this is what bikes are for?:>
Well used ! Absolutely
Appreciate some pics please
Just to throw another option into the discussion you could, if you can find one, use the Left hand lower frame rail; which has the ‘police, California’ type side stand; from either a V65 Polizia Spagnola (Spanish Police) or a V65 Guardia Civil. I know, not easy to find but they are around. There was a guy , Noel Savage on FB selling a Spagnola a while back.
Was Noel selling the whole bike or just the side stand Nik ?
Had V65 Polizia in the past and used that sidestand, unfortunately I was too young to sort spring issue, as the sidestand was hanging a bit when cornering. Then my mate set off with sidestand out, what of course catapulted him in the first LH turn. Let me say - Nevada one is more than enough.
Thanks Adamigo, great information
Been looking for a z750 side stand , most are in Europe, so postage cost is a big problem.
