As it is a brand new motorcycle, why not ask the supplying dealers advice, or pay him or her to fit them for you ? it is a big investment to risk damaging it ?
Because I have an in-built aversion to paying out £80/hr for something I can do myself.
And as far as asking a dealer what’s what…well can you guess what they might say?
Rapheal - I’m not discounting your warning , but just going on years of experience.
Indeed, I came across an account of a BMW SS1000RR with a fried ECU, courtesy of a soundbomb-type horn with meaty compressor for the horn unit.
I suspect that the compressor unit was very noisy or spiky and that is what cooked the ECU.
But on the V100, seeing that the OEM horn is itself a Chinese disc-type unit, I reckon that substituting something similar shouldn’t upset the applecart. (Too much ).
And because I’m an extra nice guy, I might even stick a relay in there to avoid switch cruelty.
Over to you guys and gals.
Anybody done it yet?
Simple test, what happens if you unplug it? Horns/connectors/fuses can fail. Does it throw an error and light the MIL?
Parts manual here, but doesn’t help much how it’s wired up: V100 Mandello Parts Manual - ukbuellgroup.co.uk
Aha. Just spotted this:

Look closely at “Alcide X’s” post…
Something wrong with that link? Can only find 4 posts by him and nothing anywhere on that page mentioning the horn.
Hi Mike
If you look at the photo, you will see a Fiamm horn fitted to his bike. In the comments he says that it is a pair of Fiamm trumpets and no problems reported.
So now we know. When I get my bike, I’m going to fit those PIAA Slender horns I’ve got ratting around.
When.
(Cut to shot of impatiently drumming fingers…)
No I must be on the wrong page, I keep getting the same 4 posts. No photo showing horns.
Behind the front wheel, low down. clearly visible if you zoom in.
“You call that a horn? THIS is a horn!”
Oh right the black blob behind the front wheel, thanks.
That part of Facebook is weird to me, I couldn’t zoom in on the picture.

There is a pair of them…
I’ll take your word for it!
My father used to rally in the 50’s and he told me about an Italian that drove a Fiat 500 in the alpine events, who fitted extremely large dual lorry air horns to his little car. When speeding around blind corners sounding the horns he would pass trucks pulled over as it appeared they thought a large vehicle was approaching.
OK sorry about length of time taken, but owing to various comical and not-so-comical issues involving my V100, finally got round to fitting the PIAA slim sport horns I talked about at the start of this thread.
Hint: it’s handy if you’ve got a crimper for flag connectors because of the configuration of the horn terminals.
Outcome: Bloody great. Decent sound, no Canbus errors or blown fuses and car drivers actually jump when you give 'em a squirt.
Highly recommended.
PS other sources/retailers are available.
HERE.
Just wired them in parallel. Used 4x flag terminals and 1 set piggybacks and 1 set males to plug into bike harness.
Thanks for that.
And congrats!
