We will probably fly out there next year instead, Karen is not liking pillion so much these days. I’m shaping up for a solo trip to the factory in 2021 on the 750s replica.
Cleaned the Stelvio, about to set of for a party at my sister’s in Old Baising … barn dance
Cleaned both mine yesterday, first weekend at home for a couple of months. Both well bug splattered after a lot of use, something like 3000 miles over the last 5 weeks.
I replaced the footrest rubber on the Le Mans, one again a shout out for Gutsibits, had the part through the post the day after ordering, plus less than a tenner all in. I remember paying about a fiver for one of these nearly 30 years ago.
Other than couldnt find anything the bikes needed
I love my Guzzis
Pedants corner; ‘20121’ - should give you every chance to have it finished by then. (And a forthcoming album by Rush?).
Thanks mate, now that I have my time machine, I thought I would go back to the factory in 1974 and pick up a new one
Could be the start of a new thread that!
If you had a time machine, what new bike would you go back and buy?
Or
If you had a time machine, which band/gig would you go back to see?
Jim you can borrow mine if you would like, it came with rose tinted glasses
Have you got full RAC cover for it?
No need, if you break down or have an accident you just travel back a bit in time! Obviously!!!
(You made me chuckle a lot there)
Thrapped the V11 round Cadwell. Heck it was hot.
If you want to cool down you have to go faster. Simples!
Hmmmm.
Possibly a Brough. Probably a Citroen DS. Definitely Thin Lizzy.
Bit difficult in the Paddock. But the relief thumping down the Start finish straight on the warm up lap was welcome.
For me, probably a Vincent Black Shadow. Car I am not sure, probably an E Type. Band, without doubt Bob Marley and the Wailers, followed by Led Zep, followed by Genesis in 1973/4, followed by Jim Hendrix, followed by Janis Joplin, followed by The Doors, followed by Howlin’ Wolf, followed by the Sex Pistols, followed by Joni Mitchell, followed by Joy Division etc etc, you get the picture.
I went to Willingham Woods to meet a mate. Guzzi were well represented with another Breva 1100 and V7.
A nice ride out
Got the 850GT out so I could nip into town this morning, but nothing happened when I pressed the button. So took all my gear off and jumped in the car. Got back and did a bit of checking and I think the starter solenoid is probably dead. Need to wait for the wife to come back with the other car, which has my jump leads in the boot so I can do some proper testing on the bench.
Good job it didn’t die when I was out and about in mid-Wales last week - heavy old bike to push-start.
I think the solenoid can still be bought, and motors can be stripped and rebuilt…
Park on the top of a hill? I had a starter motor problem a while back on my 850T (in it’s early 750S guise), the solenoid wouldn’t engage the starter motor fully. Until I fixed it I had to bump start the bike. Run along side and jump on dropping the clutch in second gear as soon as my bum hit the seat. On a gentle downhill slope I still needed some help to push it through the initial rear wheel lock up after dumping the clutch.
Good luck with the checks, hopefully it is a loose wire or a blown fuse!
Might have 2 problems.
The solenoid doesn’t click in, although does hold in if manually pushed with 12V applied. So definitely faulty solenoid.
The motor spins up using the both the car battery and the one on my Spada, but not with the one in the 850GT. So either a weak battery or weak motor. I’ll check again once the battery has been charged up overnight.
Finally, after a year and a half battling with DVLA, my 77 Convert is now an historic vehicle.
Having had the heads off the Breva 750 to drill out broken exhaust studs, I finished the reassembly including check the fuel filter was not plastic and blown, lubing the clutch slave lever, new rear disc and tyre, and using rachet straps to force the tank back on. After a bit of churning over, it cough and spluttered into life after 9 months of silence, got in it’s stride. Just a front tyre and a MOT and it is ready for a winter of abuse.
