No Chris, It’s a genuine Mk 2 cover, the raised “Le Mans” logo was very badly hand painted so I’ve cleaned it off, thinking shall I repaint it or leave as is, I just don’t want to bodge it, as it’ll look awful.
I’m thinking of getting the paint redone, (it’s the black n gold C&H ) as the current paint doesn’t do it justice. I know that it’s much cheaper to change the whole bike into a Mk1 copy, but I have a passion for the old Mk 2s and think that they’re won’t be too many left in original condition soon as most get mk 1’d.

Some great roads aroundabout too.
When I left I found a 125 Yamaha parked next to me, expected it was a young lad and his girlfriend off for a bit of “heavy petting”.
NO, it was a couple in their 70’s who live in a motorhome - they carry the bike on a rack and use it to get around. They go where the mood takes them and follow the good weather.
Now that’s what I call a retirement!
Made an application for historic vehicle status… let’s see how we get on
Did mine at the post office as it needed to be altered to Historic status, all went well, you can ride the bike straight away, V5c turned up approx. 2 weeks later, one Guzzi now free to ride the roads without an MOT or pay for Road Fund
Cheers Chilly
Hope it’s as smooth!
I took my battery and my optimate to my local battery place ( Groves Batteries) as the battery faulty light keeps coming on
the optimate is 15 years old, looks like its failed

Yesterday, I had an early morning blast around Co Durham then headed off to Corbridge. Coming back I saw a bike in the distance, caught up with it for a while before it turned off the A68. It was a modern white V7 fitted with leather panniers. The rider waved as I went passed and I returned the wave, then headed on me way home to catch the Moto GP qualifying. The bike is running well and I had a great 60 mile ride.
Good luck with them, I bet they don’t know what a Moto Guzzi is let alone a C&H Mk II Le Mans!
I look forward to seeing you on it
Have taken a couple of days of work to enjoy the sunshine and went to sunny Hunstanton for fish 'n chips on the beach. A grand day out
Numerous flies were harmed in the making of this adventure

Completed another Pawl arm spring change on the V11 and took it for the Mot. Passed of course.
got all of the rubbish out of my drive ( French cars) put the new battery on the Guzzi, checked it over and rode down to DIdcot for Tony Botto to weave his magic. I recently fitted new tyres, so amongst other things he can make sure I put the wheels in the right place !!!
he got his Ducati bevel out and fired it up, worth going just for that
journey back was a bit scary in my daughters car !!

Think I might have to do that too, not too far from me.
Although lv’e lived in Bristol for four years , l rode Cheddar gorge for the first time today .
Really impressive scenery, great weather ,and home in time to make a Dairylea cheese sandwich before the F1 started .
Cheers.
Had a sunny and quite warm VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes. A great event. MGCGB stand and marquee were busy enough all weekend with regular visitors, familiar faces and people new to the Guzzi community.
Bikes on show did the club and Moto Guzzi proud. Race bikes, road bikes that race, tourers and tiddlers. Not all of them red!
The Saturday Chinese is becoming a Mallory institution with double the usual number of people sitting to talk and eat until well into the evening. Guzzista, Harley folk and other Saturday night stayers made for good company.
Happy days all due to the hard work of Alan and Elaine Richards with a merry band of helpers.
If being part of this costs £20 and year club membership it’s a bargain. As it is there’s loads for for such a paltry sum.
A huge host of thanks to the team that put on such a great weekend.
I had a chat with Dave at Twiggers on Saturday, Piaggio has sent them camshaft and followers parts for my bike, parts free of charge, helped by a full service history, even though all of the services in the service book were by firms that are no longer Guzzi dealers. Good result, I now wait for Twiggers to sort out the cams swap, and hoping the weather keeps warm and dry!
Picked up the Stelvio today from Twiggers. Cam and followers conversion all sorted at a good price (parts free of charge) Rode back down the M1, M25 an A12, there had been an accident on all three! Filtering on the Stelvio in hot weather is not recommended. I have been like a bird with a broken wing the past month, wanting to fly but with no bike. All sorted before our Eastern Europe trip, fantastic!
Prague, Budapest and Split then back through the Alps and down the Rhine
Change of plan we have now cancelled the trip, lack of time and funds. Will try to do the trip next year.
That’s a terrible shame. Sounded great.
If you do go, watch out for the trams in Prague. One of them very nearly collected me a couple of years ago. Also there is nowhere for bikes to park, and very few motorcycles at all. Great city though.
