Just finished a top end rebuild of the little red Stornello to cure an annoying oil leak from either the push rod seals or the little O rings on the head studs. Hopefully it has cured the problem as it is on show at the local classic car and bike show in the town centre on Sunday.
Just cleaned out my rusty LM2 fuel tank as the air hole in the cabs that controls the transition (between tickover and main/needle jets) phase kept on getting blocked. Loads of horrible rusty gunge at the bottom, so it definitely needed doing. Two and a half days of rust eater later and it’s transformed. Only problem is I seem to have damaged my fuel cap in the process, so now looking for a replacement rather than blasting down the road. ![]()
Took my T3 over to the Rainbow Garage near Winfrith for the MOT. Passed with flying colours! (Mind you, less than 1000 miles done since the last one).
The only advisory I had from the tester was to do more miles this year…!

I managed to remove the rear wheel form my Breva without saying a rude word, I was working till late, so it was nice and cool
just need to see if the puncture can be mended now !!
Had similar with my 850. Tester insisted on taking the number from the frame instead of the paperwork (correct as it was). Then of course is has to match what’s in the database. Struggle to read it and I kept trying to read the stars as numbers which didn’t help. Got there in the end. And this was the place I always went to! ![]()
On Monday i did the cardinal points of Wales, 570mile day the GRiSO ran perfectly - still able to walk afterwards. That was the longest ride i have ever done (always a wimp!).
Did another 350miles later in the week visiting my brother.
and the bike is sweet as a nut.
I however have a major injury… … a throttle thumb blister.
Fitted Mistral shorties on my recently purchased V7iii stone. Only had the bike (second hand) for 6 days but these were purchased before I picked the bike up.
Sounds ace. Next jobs are fitting engine bars, side panniers, better horn and centre stand…
Oo, nice. I’ve got Mistrals (on a T3) and I really really rate them. Stainless, too. What’s not to like? Have you tried them with the Db-Killer’s out yet, @MC901? What a hoot. I had to put mine back in - not that much louder, per se, just… well, the glorious noise on the overrun and wind-up was making me misbehave. It doesn’t take much.
What did I do with my Guzzi today? I took off the horns that weren’t working so well, and put on some horns that are working splendidly, thank you. You take your wins where you find them, right? And I’ve apologised to the neighbours now.
I do wish that I knew what I’d done with that lovely red pair of Fiamm ‘snail horns’ though. Sigh…
Fitted a Dart flyscreen to my V7 - looks very good
I’m interested if the fueling needs adjusting when fitting Mistral exhausts
The little red one won a trophy for the best motorcycle in the local sports and Classic car and bike show in my home town of Market Harborough.
Congratulations Don!
I don’t think so unless you remove the DB killers.
I left mine in and feel the exhaust note is pleasantly loud and crisp sounding.
I was filmed today in Borough Gardens in Dorchester for a promotional video interview on what’s great about moving to live in Dorset. I turned up on my 850 T3, and they decided to take loads of photos plus some video footage of me with the bike!
I’ll post some photos on the forum when I get them.

Took the Norge to Nick Masons gaff yesterday for the open day (Middlewick House, Corsham). Nice day out with some amazing cars there.
Was allowed to park near the entrance as apparently the bike is “nearly a Ferrari”
MOT time for the old Cali today, took the long way home to put some miles on her as she’s only done 300 miles since last years test!
Curious about the black plastic in between the rear shocks ans side panels?
The plastic infills were standard fitment on the early Cali 3 models. I’m not sure when they were dropped from later models.
My Classic came with an original OEM rear rack fitted. Although undoubtedly useful, I decided to remove it as I prefer the clean look of the bike without it.
To keep it original, I managed to find a pair of pillion grab rails on ebay as “new old stock” for the reasonable sum of £82.
Happy with the look now.
Had the existing mismatched tyres on my Breva replaced with a set of Pirelli Sport Demons. I’m going away on it this weekend on quite a long ride there and back with a ride at the other end … and I’ve just discovered that they need running in for around 100 miles! Good thing I have plenty of time to get there. ![]()
