What did you do with your Guzzi Today? 2023...

Nice job!

Alex

The Breva 750 is now laid up for the winter. At some point I’ll be having a look inside the petrol tank to see how the hoses that I fitted 2 or 3 years ago are holding up.
Also will have a go at getting the side stand to work more smoothly (it gets very stiff on it’s pivot especially in hot weather).
And
since they are introducing the ‘Controle Technique’ here in France for motorbikes in 2024, I’ll need to get the headlight rim mounting sorted (typically enough the plastic headlight shell is suffering from entropy). The rim was held on with gaffer tape this year.

my headlight housing was starting to break up, I removed it , cleaned it and used araldite to re inforce it around the mounting points
seems to have worked so far
the rim locates onto a metal nut/clip, they can be a pain in the backside to sort, I found a new one and fitted that
mine is laid up for some time now, as I am a bit under the weather, but its still nice to open the workshop doors and see it parked there, I have owned it for longer than most of my friends have been married !!!

yes, I did the mounting points on mine with some epoxy putty, but have yet to tackle the thingy that the rim retaining screw goes into. When I asked Pete Morecombe (Reboot) if he had any used Breva 750 headlight shells he snorted and replied along the lines of ‘join the queue’! Bless him.
Sorry to hear you under the weather, hope you’ll be better in time for the spring.

Ah yes, the plastic lug that the spring nut locks onto, I think I re inforced mine 45 years in electrical engineering comes in useful sometimes, but I cannot remember exactly what I did
I will have a look and see if I have any pictures
the shell is a peculiar size, I have seen a metal headlamp and shell form a British motorcycle parts suppliers installed, but it needed packing out and looked odd
I wonder if you could obtain a new one, as it seems to be a standardized unit fitted to lots of other Italian machines a decent repair or mod would probably be better in the long run
I will have a look and see what in my computer file
there are a few on ebay that are supposed to fit, however they only have 35W lamps fitted, so not much use at night, and fitting a brighter lamp may melt the reflector
saw this one advertised

I had a DVLA vehicle inspector visit to check the details of my 2 Stornello projects yesterday, he went off happy and apparently I should have registration documents for both bikes in a week or so from Swansea.

I received two registration documents in the post from the DVLA yesterday for my Stornello projects so have added them to my insurance and ordered some number plates. First test rides should be sometime next week, once I’ve got the plates bolted on.
Many thanks to Keith Nock, the clubs dating officer for his help.

Delivered a few Christmas cards - on the way back on the A20 at Leybourne, Kent there are a set of traffic lights (4 way) which has two lanes ahead (which then goes into 1 lane at about 50 yards) I was on the right side and a Silver BMW 18 plate Estate on my left the lights changed green and this BMW sped off wheels a smoking (but you are supposed to give way to vehicles on your right I believe) a further 100 yards on there are road works as I slowly passed this car in a que I just put a thumbs up. I drive a car as well but some people are unbelievable.

I remember going to the bike show in London in the mid 70’s, four of us on British bikes and we were being followed by a load of Jap bike who were lost, maybe six or more. We pulled up at some lights alongside an E Type to our left, he gave the engine some gun looking up at us, so we all did the same looking down at him. The lights changed, squeals of tortured rubber and off shot the Jag. We all turned right. Oh how we laughed :innocent:

Bolted the new number plates & took my two Stornello projects for a brief run around the block.
The gearlever on the Scrambler needs a bit of fettling to make it easier to use, but otherwisei was quite pleased with them.
