Took the little red Stornello out for a quick run around the local villages to check it out before the Rutland Rattle, a 70 mile VMCC event on the 7th June
So today I opened a nice little package for my Stelvio from Agostini.
One cardan shaft protector which was easy peasy to fit, prise out the three bungs, insert the 3, 5mm, bolts with some copper slip and tighten up.
Also, was a thing of welding beauty. A big bore, no cat, exhaust. Despite pictures on the web site it comes as 5 parts. 2 headers, 2 link tubes and a collector box.
Question is do I try and fit it or have a run up to my mate in Cumbria who’s a tad handier than I am?
Sad man as I am.. I often click on the IOM webcam link to sneak a peek at the island..
Spotted a Guzzi this morning, one of you folks.?
There has been a slight leak from the base of the master cylinder reservoir. I replaced the O ring seal underneath the reservoir last night . Simple to do- use a syringe to empty it, and it just unscrews off. Screwed it back on again, topped it up with fresh hydraulic oil and checked it tonight= no leaks🙂.
Doesn’t seem like there is an O ring listed for this job, but a work colleague found one from the stores.
Took the little Guzzi out for an early morning chug round the lanes north of Exmoor. A great view from this lane:
Around Tivington. Great view over to Bossington bay in the gap between the headlands. Then, after eventually finding a brekkie place open, home for an oil & filter change. Just going out for a short hop to make sure there are no leaks, and the oil level is right…….
Took Rizzo out with her new Silencers. Neighbours are no longer friendly… Quite a change in her sound.
Visited Seaways for the standard flat white with egg/bacon chaser. Allowed two matchless and a loud duke to off their engines before I started her up and oh yes she is sooo loud! I’ve become Ogri…
Took the bike over to Ampleforth Abbey for more coffee. I think I woke up ancestral angels as I rumbled through the abbey grounds. Luckily I don’t commute on Rizzo or I really would become a hated, (despised)
member of my street! Now I wonder if I’ll get her through the mot with these pipes? “where is Malcolm?!”
Wow more EVs were are you chaps from.
Tool my Stornello Sport out on the South Linc’s and Peterborough VMCC section tiddler ride, The Rutland Rattle, a 60 mile ride around the lanes of Rutland, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Quite a few Guzzi fellows out on the run.
Took a ride up Teesdale to the Nook Cafe Alston, Coffee+sausage roll…
Back down Weardale, cut over Burnhope swift pint at
The Garage… Perfect
Nice paint
(it’s powder coated)
Hit the dizzying heights of almost 7,000 rpm on the Le Mans in third gear on the ride home after work. It accelerates quite quickly in that RPM.
I’m still getting used to the bike engine after working on the ignition and carbs and getting a feeling for the way it runs as I’ve not ridden it too much in the 3 years I’ve owned it. Certainly it’s been proving reliable giving me confidence to use it more.
A little trip to Rivington then over to Belmont. Stopped to take a few pics…a “don’t panic Captain Mainwaring” moment when attempting to re-mount though… the gradient wasn’t t my friend today shall we say. Must be my age . However a lovely ride out and surprisingly not much traffic for such fine weather.
The Devon Branch ventures overseas – to Cornwall. A quick peep at the sea at beautiful Rame Head:
Then it’s up to Cornwall’s highest post office and tea
room, in the wonderfully named village of Minions.
Another grand day out!
Took my recently aquired Lodola out for a tour of the essex countryside in the sunshine.
Perfect machine around the lanes
Thanks Scott and Piers for another great day out! I’ve now seen even more hidden parts of Devon and Cornwall that I didn’t know were there before. The coast road to and around Rame Head was fantastically scenic. I enjoyed a careful romp back across Dartmoor, taking on more tea/coffee at Princeton with Scott. Suitably refreshed, I very much enjoyed the A382 back towards the A38. I set off at 0830, arrived home at 1830, and covered 215 miles at an average of 51mpg. I think I’ve got to get the saddle improved/raised a bit though…
Cheers, Bob
