What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

And very succesfully too!

Not my Guzzi but there was a very nice cafe racer in Beverley Market Place at tonight’s midsummer classic gathering. Have photos on my phone but not able to post on here, don’t do Photobucket or anything similar.

North Staffs Branch members hoolied round the beautiful Peak District in the evening sunshine…bliss…

Had a ride around Weardale, bit cooler than yesterday. Got a puncture a couple of miles from home, tyre people say it’s irreparable (or wrecked as they put it) can’t get one till Monday. Even the bike shops say end of next week. Looks like a weekend in the allotment.Ian Guzzi Gadgy2014-06-19 17:15:13

Since when have punctures been irrepairable…??..when I did the Balkans/Turkey 20yrs+ there were no QuikFits there…and I suspect things have not changed…but hey…!!..I’m just an old bloke, what would I know…!!

First time commuting to my usual place of work on the V7 after commuting for a couple of years on the BMW.

Journey in is about 20 miles with a mixture of lanes, villages, dual carriageway and ton centre and for the first time ever I made the whole distance from my driveway to my parking space without stopping - never once had to put a foot to the floor.

The ride home was less enjoyable: every set of bends was blocked by some twit dawdling in a small car or a builder’s van and holding everyone else up.

re: punctures, if the carcass is ripped on a tubeless by, say, a piece of angled plate, then it’s ‘goodnight, Irene’.
Prudence would use a tubed tyre back there and then.
Maybe knobblies, too

Phil

“if the carcass is ripped”…that’s not a ‘puncture’…I’ve had garages spouting on about how their not allowed to insert plugs…‘blah blah…elf ‘n’ safty’…funny how 3/4 of the rest of the world manage…!!

That’s the kiddie. Need the panniers and screen too, though.

Regarding Staffs away meet, some nice pics on Laverda forum…

Think I heard from somewhere recently that if it meant it has run completely flat for any distance then the rims have been rolling on the squashed sidewalls and therefore they've been b*ggered. And b*ggered (sorry, damaged) sidewalls ~ by any means (including clouting a kerb) ~ is a no-no.

What I did on my Guzzi today: my 500th mile since I picked it up last Saturday. Found myself throwing it into a bend with gay abandon as if I’d been riding it for ages. Found myself accidentally going over the 5,000 rpm running in rev limit just for the sheer joy of the ride and had to back off.

‘… your Guzzi today?’

Dear Reader, I acquired it

Phil

Tomorrow, mine will be mostly parked in the paddock at Oliver’s Mount, whilst I help to keep the track clear of debris, should there be any.

Good for you, spent some happy week-ends there back in the late seventies and early eighties, saw Sheene ride his Akai Yam 500 there when he came back to racing after his Silverstone crash.

Cancelled my Dutch TT tripThese things happen, work often spoils the party if you’re in a small firm. Already sorted a long weekend in Cochem for August…

A Guzzi day. This morning made the 40+ mile round trip to Aberystwyth on the S3 to pick up some Loctite 641 to stick the V7Sport’s UJ to its support bearing. It’s still tight in its bearing and I’m determined to keep it that way.Afternoon. Fitted said UJ, swing arm and drivebox along with some rebuilt NOS old style Koni shocks to Rhino and drunk lots of tea. This is where I’m up to now. This evening. Went down the road to the “Old Cranks” bike club. Six bikes there (which is a good turnout) and three of them were Guzzis - My S3, Seb’s Ambo and Brian’s 1100 Cali.
