Let there be lite !
You could fry bacon at a thousand paces with that lot! ![]()
Sorry mate, I didn’t see you!
Speaking of which, painted the brackets for my DRL’s this afternoon. Hammerite black much more nicerer than the original anodised grey, which is going rusty already.
And for that which shall be used as the rear DRL (now with new red LED’s), its controller board is now ensconsed in a ABS box mit connecting leads, and so is pretty much ready to be mounted. As the actress said to the bishop etcetera…
Haaaaaarrgh - we do like a good mounting.
I’ve just been out and strapped on the tool kit, the airhawk and the sat nav mount to the Pearl. She’s gonna whisk me out on the 120 mile round trip to Sunbeam Club tomorrow night.
And there is a clue in there somewhere as to why the sickly Sunbeam will not be taking me (why are British bikes so sh!te, yet somehow irresistible?).
Took the V7 Classic to Guzzi Club meet, chosen over the Cali for corrosion resistance.
First time out after two weeks’ neglect (we don’t count polishing) and good charge on the battery.
Relying on tripmeter in brain and some alpine gradients nearly got me into trouble and I’ve clocked a record 185 miles when I finally take a reading at home. Cold.
Phil
Brrrrrr…
Looked at mine and noticed it was surprisingly clean looking, I must have washed it after it was last used…
Well it was a cold night out there fumbling my way into deepest darkest Kent on the Pearl last night. Mind you she do go even better when the ear plugs are installed. Started out with only one rear light and the front brake light switch non-functioning, but that all seemed to have fixed itself by the time I got to the other end. Frustrated to see gritting trucks out here and there plying their trade; I’d kind of figured you would need both water and sub-zero temperatures before there was any chance of encountering ice but there you go. I suppose they have the residue of the winter salt mountain and the last of the O/T budget to burn through.
Round here they were chucking it onto apparently bone dry clean roads ~ so in other words basically dumping loose sand and salt crystals onto the roads ~ not good at all if you’re on a bike!!!
Anyway “what did I” ? … quite a nice day outside today so I reinstalled the super improved LED DRL, and put some new SS acorn nuts onto the bell housing. Also made a bracket to mount a rear red LED daytime lamp ~ rear carrier now with Givi topbox base overhangs the stock tail light somewhat.
Well, I managed to ride my Guzzi home from work without crashing, which is more than could be said for my trip into work with the works van…
Oh dear. Anything you wish to expand on…?
Impatient and late old woman…huge tractor with colossal skip lorry type trailor…he goin left…me goin right at traffic lites on a bank…SWINGOUT !..more than enough said …dont think he even knew and he didnt stop…mea culpa…
Ah - that’s not so good. You can suffer the same sort of thing passing stuff on the inside on your bike when they are turning right … and they feel the need for a jink left before making the turn. Ouch.
I left the Pearl in the garage and took the Nimbus out for its first run after dark last night. Lights (6V) are surprisingly good, and the LH twistgrip that controls them worked better than expected. I’d discovered a newly formed ‘Classic’ Bike Club that meets at a country pub just a couple of miles from me. Result - I could cycle that for a couple of tasty pints and a pipeful in the beer garden once the balmy summer nights are upon us.
It’s Thursday nights at the Willows in Cressing for any of the Essex crew who might be interested … and who’s bikes are classic enough (?).
Much damage to company van, Kate?
I take uou’re OK Kate.
Be glad you weren’t on a bike.
Sorry about that Kate!

Lovely dry sunny day today, and not cold, so took the X10 out for a pootle over to my supplier at South Woodham Ferrers, to drop off his cheque and have a bit of a natter over coffee, then pressed onward for ham eggs ‘n’ chips at Feering, via Maldon and Tiptree. Wind a bit bracing on the way back home tho.
Am fine gents…the van rather the worse for it…having to go to Ireland with the n/s mirror held on with cable ties…my bosses have been lovely about it…such gents…
Good to read! Remind me to tell you about a club member, a “laid down” bike and £1,000 bill!
