decided to go for an evening ride on me dato…which I havent used since 2013…when after about 20 miles it stopped…think it may be battery related…will report back…had to be rescued by my son…in me van…doh ! ![]()
Can’t believe it took me FOUR HOURS just to change the choke plungers and starter jets on the Guzzi, jeez I must be getting really slow and feeble … thought it was about quarter to twelve when I first went out to the bike, MIGHT have been later, not sure TBH, anyway the 2nd time I looked at the clock it sez quarter to four!?? WTF has the time gone??! Yet another late lunch (i.e. after four in the afternoon!)
I’ve junked the choke cables so opted for the lever-top type plungers, just in case they might be needed, also, different starter jets with smaller base 'oles and more and higher atomiser holes, (part number 8894.55) the idea is more air less gobs of neat petrol, so less chance of totally flooding the engine if so much as think about using them … in theory …
Gave the Nevada a jolly good thrashing on the way to work this morning… waking up all the drivers from their half asleep mode as I flashed passed em bouncing off the rev limiter (In first gear ocifer… about 30mph that…ish)
Trotter Super - Liking that one.
Found a slow puncture in my front tyre…
Supertyres in Maldon rang Pirelli and will have a new one in tomorrow, they also agreed to reduce the price from £120 to £100, fitted the lot. ![]()

. That’s why I ride low powered cruiser type bikes now, helps to keep my speed down… think I need a race track for the feisty days though ![]()
Ms C, you might need watching on the MMT methinks…are the Highland aborigines ready for one who exhibits such zeal with the throttle hand?
I’ll inform the media. ![]()
I’ll be ok unless I see a Haggis in the road… then i’ll be off chase’in it like a terrier
they do taste good, especially the wild caught ones… or so I’m told.
Only deep fried with chips.
The italian fish’n’chips shop in Fort William did excellent ones.
It was also there that I discovered wino’s were usefull.
I’ve only had the cultivated ones, but I really like them. I’m not sure when the wild ones are in season though
Made sure it still starts. Forgot to turn petrol on again! 'Least provided a way of proving the modified choke(s) work.
How are you feeling now Mike? Are you getting the replacement parts together now?
Do you know what only this week am I walking more like normally again ~ accident will be 3 weeks ago this Sundee ~ right side ribs still aching a bit still!
Literally half an hour ago got an e-mail saying most X10 parts have been dispatched, hope they can hold off delivering until Monday!
Nothing today because I am back at sea.Â
However I did have a great time in the better weather while at home and gave it a damn good clean before returning to the ship. Polished the down pipes with a buffer and came up brilliantly shiny top to bottom. Altogether a fantastic bike to keep clean. More so with the shaft drive and the luxury of a nice grease free back wheel
Blue is now a regular on the station run - around 6 miles each way. I shall fill up with high octane on the way home this evening and then strap on the tent later tonight. Golden Eagle bound in the morning - and a dry if cool weekend in prospect. Hooray.
Hope y’all have a great time at the Golden Eagle…
In other news…nothing with a Guzzi cos workin…oh…and…er…I did contrive to overbalance on a customers bike whilst setting off to roadtest ! it…however…I made sure that I was between it and the ground…so am a bit secondhand…and the fuel cap popped open and covered me in petrol…doh !
Picture of bruise to follow…when it has fully developed…
