Hope so Chilly…be good to see you again…
In other news we had a crackin VMCC run t’other nite…to meet up with the Manchester and High Peak section…Guy on his 1000s, me on the Thin Black Duke…only downside was the …er …spirited ride home…which may result in a speedin ticket…tho the camera never flashed…
A coupla pics…a lovely old brit…rescued from chopperdom…and the duke next to a skip with a dead xmas tree…
Picked up the Breva - got both exhausts fixed up at MSC (they were flapping due to rusty nuts) then did a triangular ride to Dream Machine for a bacon bap and a mug of tea. Bit of a chat, then onto Brixton MX track to hang of with the Wembury MX crew and drink black coffee. Not tempted to take the Guzzi on the track!! Probably 50 miles all up. Should have ridden further.
Then when I got home washed and polished the bike.
Pleasant evening so a short tour of Lancashire and back home some 150 miles later. Bike running and sounding great and the Maxxi tyres proving really confident to ride on. Polish due later this week.
Loving my Guzzi again now I am back home
meet up with Tony Botto and collected my Breva, its had a full overhaul and now runs like a dream
I also delivered to him my nephews Honda Cub aka the widowmaker
it took me 45 minutes to travel a journey that normal takes 5
its awful, he bought it off ebay, the owner rebuilt the engine and mOTD it
the entire front suspension is scrap
the clutch is jumping and general it runs like a heap
its a death trap
Tony is going to make it safe or shoot it

Over 100 miles on me old loop…recceing my VMCC ride this sunday…which is called the Shroppie ride cos we are finishing at Norbury Junction…however the route I’ve done is interesting enough hopefully…lots of gravelly single track lanes, a ford crossing (that should sort em!)… lots of streams, meres and pools…a tunnel even…should be entertainin…
Now all we need is the nice weather to stay…and for Mallory at the end of the month…

Sadly missing your run.
Off to the Guzzi day at The Super sausage http://www.supersausagecafe.co.uk/
As with so many recent summers I’m spoiled for choice
Steve
Will see you there Steve…
Going back to grabby clutches, my Eldorado has the grabbiest, most horrible clutch of any bike ever. I will give it a drink of white spirit this week and if it doesn’t work, I’ll join it, but possibly substituting white spirit for gin!
My wife just bought her first Guzzi (A Breva 750, and very nice it is too) so I enjoyed riding it 50-odd miles home last night. Roads were dry, temperature perfect, almost no traffic on the interesting bits . I think it’s fair to say that I ensured it reached operating temperature on that ride
Jon
Jon, you spoil that wife of yours.
Assuming she ever gets to ride it.
Got the engine in the project,
pretty painless…well, except for the thumb
Took mine to the 3rd wednesday away meet at Norbury Junction…simply smashin nite…loads of mates on bikes…sunshine…narrer boats and free chips…perfick…

The other day i was doing the carb balance on one of my bikes and read Carburetor balancing/synchronizing - Loop frames - Moto Guzzi - Topics - Gregory Bender In it the writer says,
“Now to acceleration balance. Many will write to you about mid-range and high range balance. Hooey!! At big throttle openings and higher RPMs, your engine cannot possibly detect minor vacuum imbalances. The place where it is CRITICALLY important is at a stop light or traffic light when you are feathering the clutch and adding throttle to accelerate away. Cylinder imbalance is one of the biggest aggravators of the famous loop frame grabby clutch. It doesn’t grab at 75 MPH, it grabs at 3 MPH when you are pulling away from a light”.
I’ve not had a problem with a grabby clutch but this lodged in my mind! Just a thought…
I can tell when my carbs are needing doing, and when freshly balanced etc the whole bike is nicer to ride. I use Davida gauges. But the clutch is still about as easy to feather as the belt drive on a rotovator.
Guzzi meet at Victoria services near Bodmin, where there is a bike night, then we went on a spirited ride through Perranporth, St Agnes Porthtowan to Portreath. We then went on our separate ways home. I had a blast through Redruth to Helston and on to the Lizard - great ride.
