What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

Took a blast round the lanes on my old Lemon, yesterday. Them skinny tyres feel more stable on dodgy surfaces, than modern wide rubber.

Yes it is

I was starting to get twitchy every time i saw/head a bike go down our road

Well, over the weekend, put the new wheely stool and kneeling pad in the garage, with the nice new insulated door…Made sure the heater and a nice cup of tea were to hand, and the bluetooth music thingy:Then set about servicing the Breva. Deep joy! How is it, that an old UFI filter with the same part number, has 8 sides, whereas the new one has 14? A bodge was called for:Which got the b*gger out.

I took out the front engine mount of both the le mans and the cali, re greased and torqued back up,

I am guessing that it had been done regularly in the past, being as it just slipped out and back in!

and I replaced the carb slide on the le mans!ianboydsnr2014-02-26 15:45:52

Rode it

Did 20 miles in sun and realised how much better it handles than the old t5 did

Hedenau German tyres are working really well for me

Nice little spin around the Shropshire countryside today. Only other bike I saw was a V50 parked up by the river near Ironbridge

Fitted my fuel injector O2 compensator, had to loosen starter motor to access wiring but so far good improvement. Little or no popping from exhaust on tickover and may be more tractable pulling higher gear at low revs. Had email from finebau suggesting a lower learner setting when I get to high altitude at top of stelvio in June. Covered 40 miles on dry roads in weak sun at 12 degrees.
Ooorah!

they have filled in the big hole outside my house !! but now my brother and sister in law here with the huge camper thing blocking my driveway !!!well i taxed it in readiness for when they go

Changed the oil and filter on the Cali. All going well until I dropped the sump into the old oil - oops!

Splash?

Not too bad, fortunately, but instead of a quick wipe to get the oil off the outside of the sump, there was much palavering and wastage of kitchen roll.

Never mind, it’s all back together and done for another year!

Iain ,glad your enjoying the small block. My 650tt is the bike I cant keep off at the moment ,pure enjoyment

Bought some luminous fluorescent paint with which I intend to paint the front panel of the Mk1 fairing which me green un wears…hopefully will be more discernible to myopic drivers and with the added bonus that it should be easier to see in the dark, after I’ve had a few beers and can’t find the bliddy tent…ditto Guy…!

Blimey …

Taken the battery off my wonderful California Vintage to charge it up, since it’s from yesterday night she makes a machine gun like noise and does not start.
…hopefully tomorrow will be a brighter day.

BTW: Hello to everybody! This is my first post; hopefully next one will be an happier one!

Hi and welcome Aguzzino. There is a useful bit in frequently asked questions about how to test your starter motor if charging doesn’t cure your woes

Welcome…

Took it for a quiet and peaceful run through an hour’s worth of B roads for the sheer pleasure of it but also to check out my “Mud Spat” mod I did last week to keep some of the road crud off the gear and clutch linkages. Not a new idea, just my version of it.Pics to explain. It does a reasonable job but might wear the paint on the swing arm over a period of time but easier to re-paint than ruin the linkages via dirt ingress.Regards,John

Bit nippy but dry, so under the car to change rear shocks, bit of lump hammer work and first shock out, go to get spring compressors from tool box, not there! Bugger! Searched everywhere then remembered they were lent out and not returned, so, off to local motor factors on bike, which started first time. Motor factor is 1.5 miles away, got compressors, then, 28 miles later, got home. spring definitely seems to have sprung. Due to non wasting of time, second shock will have to wait until tomorrow.Cheeers, Gerry.

Sunny 50-mile jaunt to Teasdale’s to collect a GS battery after the factory-fitted finally gone terminal *these are the jokes, folks.
Nice price, thx Jackie
