An interesting read
Had minor accident last weekend (not bike related) and can’t ride at the moment so consoled myself fitting engine bars, hand guards and relocating the horn and my Drift Ghost XL camera over the weekend.
Restoration almost complete. but
Still waiting for the Cardellino petrol tank to be returned from the Painter.
Itching to get the bike running.
So I thought I would rig up a temporary petrol supply, so how about this one–is this the first Cardellino using fuel injection!!!
Yes the bike started and ran well–just a slight mechanical carb adjustment required. No need for the laptop to be plugged in!!!
Wishing you a swift recovery - hope your not in too much pain.
Crash bars did their job okay?
Thanks for the good wishes - fortunately it was not a bike related accident so the V100 is unscathed! Just me that suffered but much cheaper to fix with a few stitches and plasters
Hi paulc911
Its on my list of additions for my V7 850. What was it like to fit?
Cheers
Jim
@jc59 It was very straight forward to do. The instructions could have been a little clearer so I did have to email Motobins for some technical advice which was swiftly replied to. In essence on the V100 you fit two plates (one on each side) behind the foot-peg hangers and then the main stand bolts directly to these with metal bushes (remember to grease these). The most challenging bit is attaching the two springs - I put the bike up on the centre stand to keep it solidly in place and hooked the springs on to the plates and then used a screwdriver to level the other end down on to the lug on the stand. Probably half an hour / forty minutes in total. Be quicker the second time round. Really pleased with the quality and feel of the stand and the bike feels really solid on it.
Hi Phil, The Nook is a really nice cafe. The other really good cafe in Alston is Hickins, otherwise known as the Crossings cafe, down by the old railway station in Alston. I’m hoping to ride up for a longer day out from York to Alston and Hexham this week….or next if the weather remains a bit grim as it’s the views make that ride special.
Still cold down here in sunny Leicestershire. This was at the Rose & Crown in Zouch, on a recent rare dry evening. What an awful Spring it’s been for riding, and it’s midsummer day soon !
Rose & Crown Zouch Notts yesterday evening
There are more Guzzi’s hidden in the line behind my silver V11
It was great to meet you
Had a long, rather warm and at times ‘interesting’ day on Monday. Myself and three friends rode from York up to Alston in Cumbria and Hexham in Durham calling in at Barnard Castle and Stanhope en route. Around 230 miles of twisty and sweeping roads, deliberately avoiding major roads whenever we could! That’s the longest ride I’ve done on the Mandello and whilst it doesn’t float over the bumps and potholes like an adventure bike, I was surprised at how easy and comfortable it was, though I think 200 miles of twisties may be my ‘comfort limit’ on this bike.
The only bad bit of the day came after about 190 miles, when for some strange reason I found the bike became very reluctant to change down the gears, especially the lower ones. It seems to have recovered again today, thankfully but I may ask a question in the technical section about this. Otherwise a great day out, with stunning views.
Please dont tell anyone in Hexham that its in Co. Durham as they’d be rather offended as its in Northumberland. Other than that minor faux pas those roads are rather good and i too have ridden them on my V100. Currently in Northumberland now and will be riding south on Sunday on some scenic routes through the Pennines as far south as Preston.
