What did you do with your Guzzi today ? 2017 .......

Your about early Kate

Had a great ride out with my VMCC Anglia Section as well, about 120 miles on my old 1959 350 AJS, tea and cakes thrown in as well, :sunglasses:

Out with them again on Wednesday for another run plus Pub Lunch, tough being retired

How did the Triumph go, well i hope ?

It always goes well Chilly…tis the way Guy puts em together…it looks beautiful too…

That’s true Kate, time taken building them properly pays off, just had my T Bird let me down after 30 years good service, bloody Gel battery just lost all its amps but showed 12.5 volts, very misleading + it was raining at the time, not a good day

Didnt you and Guy have a conversation re gel batteries at the Clox…?
Our zedder appears to have destroyed its gel battery in 12 months…interestingly our boat inspector reckons they dont like anything thats charging around 14 much…and they also may not like being lain down as people with caff racers occasionally do…

Both my fi Guzzi’s charge at the standard 14.5v as did my lemon.
All use(d) gel batteries with no problem.

Just sayin !

Not arguing, just another pov.
I got my 750 Breva Back from Tony Botto on Saturday, new front BT45 (there was some tread left on the old one but after 11,000 miles who cares).
Ordered up 2 replacement indicators from Gutsibits and then MoT it next week.

I an I will not be along next Sunday
I shall be deep in France !!
thanks for thge boots by the way
my nephew has liberated one pair and I have the other

Took the wife’s B750 and my Stelvio in for MoTs today. As expected, the Breva passed with no advisories (10 years old but I’ve given it a good seeing-to over the winter). For the Stelvio’s first MoT, I was expecting an advisory on the front discs due to the pulsing effect at low speed (<15mph) but this passed with a clean bill of health too. That hour and a half I spent cleaning the brakes yesterday was clearly time well spent but I’ll be on the lookout for replacement discs/pads soon.

Batteries used to be batteries! Now they are a science and need different methods for charging/maintaining and even starting! Gel and Lead acid are pretty similar in this respect but the left field option is the Lithium Ion type. We’ve had these drain to ~2v accidentally over about three weeks this winter, on both bikes, due to stupidly leaving heated jacket controllers plugged in (but switched off however they still draw a tiny current like this). No amount of charging, using the specified Li tender, would bring them back to life and I was resigned to buying new ones on the understanding they had ‘bricked’ (look it up). A simple old-fashioned jump start brought both bikes back to life with immediately healthy batteries that have shown no sign of problems since. Weird!

Another difference is that these batteries need to be loaded for a few seconds before they ‘warm up’ to cranking power. You get used to switching on the ignition and waiting about 5 seconds - that’s all it takes - however if you press the starter straight away it feels like the battery is flat! I’m told they will hold their charge for over a year and be ready to cold-start your bike but I daren’t put that to the test…and I want to ride my bike

After not using it for 18 month’s, I thought,
well I haven’t missed it maybe I should sell it,
changed the oil, filter, plugs and belts took it for a ride…
 Sell it…what was I thinking of.

Got the Stelvio back from Newcombe Bros today, runs like a train! France here we come

An evening canter to warm up the Mongrel before the Staffordshire Branch meeting.
Corking night with about 20 people, great range of bikes and banter. some regulars and a couple of new faces.
We’re settling in well with the new venue.
Departure was the icing on the cake as 3 Guzzis, 1 Norton single, 1 Meridan Triumph twin and a BMX GS left the car park together.
Happy days (and evenings)
Steve

Had a ride home in Auntie Carol’s breakdown van.
Rear tyre deflated but luckily not travelling very fast and recovery turned up after 35mins.
On the plus side, I can give my back brake a clean out etc.

Went for the newspapers this morning and stopped off at the Clootie Well (Google it!)…

Audace at Clootie well

A wee pootle down to the Lizard, a cup of tea and a gentle return via Cadgwith and Ruan Minor down all of the tiny lanes with steep hills and tight corners, to see if Heather would fall off her Indian! She made it home in one piece

Being back in the UK and with the weather being so fine I took the Bella shopping. Who’d have thought it would take 197 miles to find 4 bottles of Speckled Hen, 4 bagels and a bottle of shower gel

Sat-nav problems ?

Sunny day excuse…
We off to big brekkie…sorry VMCC…
