What did you do with your Guzzi today ? 2018 .......

Took the T3 out yesterday in the sunshine!!! Today took the small German thing to the Scottish lunch meeting, I’ve posted photos on the Scottish Branch page for anyone who doesn’t believe its been sunny up here!

I have “borrowed” a hydraulic table, it has sat in a mate’s shed for years from new and has never been used. I made a timber engine stand today, tomorrow the engine goes on the stand and I start putting the lower frame rails and main stand together.

I’m starting to get excited again

Looking at it again, I am going to have to reduce the size of the top board to suit the sump.

That’s better

Nice idea.
I’ve got a similar workbench and use a wind up bike stand which has a smaller foortprint and can get ‘interesting’ if not placed just right!
Steve

…and so it begins

Taxed the V11 then went for a potter round the Peaks. Chilly or what.

Yesterday evening. Rode to and from the Herts/Beds meet on DRY roads.

Postie delivered a rubber battery tray & main stand rubber, for the Cali’ 3, which I only ordered from Gutsibits the day before. Shocked at how quick they were! The original battery tray had hardened to such an extent, that it was hard to believe it was once rubber.

Ordered a battery as well

Not strictly Guzzi related, but a bit of a MOT fest here. Ural and two Yamahas yesterday and this morning, all passed. This will no doubt bring an end to the good weather we are enjoying!

Also popped out to see the Flying Scotsman as it ran through the fens earlier. Turned out not to be the Flying Scotsman, but still impressive:

Damn, which line was it on? :astonished:

Congrats on the MOT’s.

Mike, it was running from Kings Cross to Ely, then across to Peterborough and on to Scarborough. We only found out as some friends of ours were on it. We were beside a level crossing between Ely and March, and it had a fair turn of speed as it went past, so we couldn’t clearly see anyone on board, let alone recognise anyone!

I also had a run to Haywards in Cambridge this afternoon, and had a pleasant natter about electric bikes, old fashioned leather jackets and where to get clothing repaired in the area, amongst other things. There was also the offer of a cup of tea as soon as I arrived, with no expectation I was going to buy anything. They are a nice bunch, such a shame they gave up Guzzis a few years ago.

Always felt this about Haywards :stuck_out_tongue: .
Seems Guzzi/Piaggio were only interested in quantity sales rather than a quality sale (which often led to another sale) .
I will probably visit them to have a look at the new Royal Enfield twin although here in Peterborough we have a new RE dealer .
You can’t beat old fashion service, product knowledge and respect for customers something our local multi concession dealer could learn as well .

Took the Cali out on the first Taverners VMCC run of the year around the leafy lanes of sunny Leicestershire, finished up at a pub for a nice buffet lunch.

Changed all the brake pads on the Norge today, all by myself!

Easier than expected, I have only done brake pads a couple of times before, and on my Triumph it was a nightmare.

Pretty impressed with the design of the gold Brembos. You don’t even have to take the calliper off the fronts to get the pads out. Lovely.

I had a little trundle down to the VMCC North Birmingham ride-in event on the 850GT. A few showers about but not enough to stop and put on waterproofs. About 30 bikes there of various ages/types including Guzzis x 4.
I needed some fuel en-route so dropped in to the BP garage on the A5. Didn’t see the price till after I’d put 11 litres in - £1.46 for the super unleaded. Won’t be stopping there again!

Got the Mk3 Lemon ready for an MOT today, hopefully MOT’d and taxed in time for Mrs R to use it to the Scottish Guzzi Rally next week.

Sent away all our V5’s to the DVLA following a recent house move, guess which one isn’t back yet? Yep the Lemon!.. Phone call to Wales on Monday I think

Managed to get a spare key for the Cali as it only came with one. If anyone is needing a spare key for the older models, this is what suited mine . The local Timsons key shop cut the pattern for me.

Then polished it a bit as it’s been a miserable cold wet day here in middle England.

I’ve bought key blanks from him too. The local Timpson shop cut them for nothing, although did request I gave him a good review on their website!
