Killed a lot of flies, (and me tacho),
Durham , Newcastle, Corbridge up the A68 to the border, cuppa, back down to Corbridge on down the 68 , chipped off to Lanchester back into Durham…
Superb
I had a canny 60 mile round trip last night to the North East branch club meeting at Heddon on the Wall. It started out as a wet damp evening, then the sun came out and it was an enjoyable ride. I was made very welcome by the members ( Cheers Moe ).
Started to take various bits off to fit my new Hagon shocks.
Off with the seats.
Off with the rack.
Off with the decorative chromed plastic trim… or not. Both lower screws are reluctant to come off. May try my impact driver later, sprayed the offending screws with WD40, rather not rush and break the trim If not, then I’m hoping there is enough clearance at the top of these trims to remove and refit the shocks.
Right hand silencer will have to be removed, unsure if I can leave the left one on though… time will tell.
Hi all, I was contemplating placing this post in “General Banter” under a title like … How far would you go for your lost sun-glasses …? However, I have decided to post it in this section … Let me explain … On Thursday, I received a message from Kevin, ( Cabernet ), asking if I would be up for a ride-out into Wales … He feared that he had left said pair of sun-glasses at a certain location … out in “the sticks” , and miles from anywhere … a place by the name of Anchor … ( I reckoned it was on the coast !!) So, Saturday arrived, and I was up bright and early, and out of the door for 8am …, Kev and I were to meet in Cheshire, at a café in the JTS store near Sandiway … Kev starting from Manchester, me from Preston …ish … The run was an absolute cracker … Decent weather, mostly on the road “less travelled” … a few stops for brews and refreshments … and nearly two dozen miles of one of my favourite roads ( Newtown down to Llandidrod Wells) … Pure heaven…! Nothing but fast sweeping bends, with the bike never really upright … Then, after a fuel stop for us as well as the bikes, I was led into a region I was not really familiar with, and Kev pulled off the road, at a very secluded little junction … Removing his gloves and helmet, he carefully scrutinised the long tussocks of grass and vegetation that made up the verge … What did he find …? An empty Stella can launched from the passenger window of a “beat-up” old Vauxhall Corsa …? An empty crisp packet, sullying our green and pleasant land …? No … He found a pair of bloody sun-glasses he had gone and left there last week …!!! Well, you should have seen his reaction … His shrieks of joy reverberated around the majestic Powis hills …!! But, we still had the best part of a couple of hundred miles to get back home …!! Seriously Kevin, I am glad they were still there waiting for you, It was a great ride-out, a good route you chose, a sunny day, and good company … How far would I go for a pair of sun-glasses…? Down to “Boots” the chemists … They have some belters for about £3.99 …!!! Regards, Tony
Some progress ( now it is warm enough to spray paint in my garage ) - I still have loads ( most ) of the prep / priming to do of the whole Bike but, being impatient
I have this weekend got my Petrol Tank painted / decalled & laquered .
Lifted my spirits no end , well pleased in how it turned out and the paint match ( there
is just one always covered area with original colour ) is pretty damn close - BMW Imola Red . That is a darker than Italian built Guzzi’s as my Zigolo was Hispania built
under licence ( 1956 ) , the Spanish Museum photo confirms the colour as correct, now suitably inspired…
Took the Bella to Dave Clarks this am.
Jon, who did the MoT whilst I drank a mug of coffee gave it a clean bill of health except for one thing that would have bothered him if he was riding it, the nut on the end of the swinging arm rod was missing.
Replaced and I stopped off at Lidl to buy an 8 year old and a pizza to celebrate.
Brilliant!
This should really be in Gambalinga so that others can share in the tale.
Any chance you could send a copy to Roger? editor@motoguzziclub.co.uk
John Maris and a run out last Sunday. The 10th and last event. Well attended and a good chinwag/catch up as ever.
Back from a break in Bath and straight off for the Staffies away meet at Norbury Junction last night.
Corking turnout of bikes and people of all sorts.
Today lots of errand and appointments which lent themselves to bike use and a jolly good time.
Happy days.
Steve
