Popped through to North Shields for a cuppa
Went for a wizz around the back lanes of Cheshire. Coming home via Runcorn I spotted an old steam tugboat…the Daniel Adamson. Moored near the Sutton swing bridge. It was built in 1903 and following a conversation known locally as “The Danny”. Every day is a school day when venturing out on a Moto Guzzi ![]()
The same thing happened to me yesterday. Another twin parked up with the engine the wrong way round.
5 weeks after lumber surgery and then emergency surgery for a clot, mot booked for next Monday. Not long now Rizzo! (if I can get my leg over that is…)
With my Bantam out of action, took Shadowfax to the Bantam club meeting in Chilham. Lovely evening ride through Wye.
Took my 2019 v85tt for its first MOT with me owning it, passed. Then did a ride around Shropshire before an oil and filter change, bit messy with the filter underneath but done. Gearbox and shaft to do next just to be sure.
Took a run down on the Spada to the Northants clubs 20 year anniversary celebration. If you provide food, then the people will come along.
Thanks to Bill and Elaine for organising it, good to meet up with Phil Skinner over from South Africa.
Took my little Stornello Sport America out on a Taverners Section VMCC tiddler run along with Mick’s nice little Galleto. He was faster on the flat, but couldn’t get up the hills as well as mine.
New bearing in the rear, new brake discs fitted with pads.
Hepco Becker rear carrier what a b@@@@rd to fit!! Bloody shattered
Fitted my Chinesium stainless 2 into 1 (after some polishing!!)
with new (cheap) exhaust gaskets and (expensive) graphite pipe seals, no leakage and no strange noises so off we went for a 75 mile to the Baffle House and back. It is running smoother at low revs (can hold 20 in 2nd or 30 in 3rd) and seems to have more midrange 2500-4000 a slightly deeper engine note but i think at speed it is quieter. I seem to be holding higher gears than i expected very pleased.
I think thats what it was like on mine. I saw the biggest improvement in the mid range. The heat is also a big bonus.
Test rode the Stelvio with the bride on Saturday. Oh dear not great seems a bit short in the seat. After our usual weekend breakfast run the V85 is still winning.
Shout out to MSC great service on a test ride. Very accommodating and a senseable chat regarding trade in prices.
Not so much as ‘what did you do with your Guzzi today’ more like ’ what did your Guzzi do to you today ’
Burnt a hole in my Dianese trousers, whilst squeezing between the Guzzi and the Honda in my garage ![]()
Thought that looked like Weardale. Regularly ride Durham - Weardale - Allenheads - Teesdale and home.
Had fish and chips in Minehead with 7 members of the MGCGB Devon Branch on a rare and enjoyable foray into foreign parts (i.e. Somerset).
Johnny was this Aliexpress? After something similar for the V100, ready for WHEN (not IF) the cat can bolt shears (AGAIN).
No idea where the original owner bought it. The metal all looks thick enough and the welding on the heat shield brackets (that i ground away) was a decent thickness and went all around the bracket with no gaps.
I will keep an eye on it but frankly i would not be surprised if the exhaust two into one from Mistral and Verex are made in China/Thailand etc. Our manufacturers all sold up and live on the proceeds ![]()
