Rode up to Princes Risborough where the Kop Hillclimb Festival is taking place in about 10 days time.
Any Moto Guzzi Club attendance organised ?
If all goes to plan, I’ll be riding my Eldorado up the hill on the Saturday.

Really? Look at the valve clearance check/adjust procedure for the V100 and say that with a straight face!
Fair enough – the V100 is a bit trickier thanks to its use of shims.
Still a relative breeze compared to my Ducati though, where it takes around two hours of dismantling to even get to the exhaust valve on the rear cylinder. Access is everything, and the ears-in-the-wind design means the Guzzi wins hands down!
Yeah know what you mean - I’ve also got a Duc 900SS ie and it is a faff compared to Guzzis of a similar vintage - except for the external oil filter!
Longish ride out on the new (to me) v85tt. On returning home and on putting the bike away I got the dreaded squeaky toy noise on the back rear shock… On removing the shock I encountered terrible corrosion on the bearings, the top one being completely seized. Anyway much ACF50 and mineral oil and grease later and the shock was back on. Squeaking gone. Good article in this months gambalunga page 10 re lack of factory greasing. I hope the new all singing operating theatre like factory, will allow grease to be used on the shop floor…
Yup – that’s why I put a sump extender and external oil filter on my 1982 G5!
We had a few days in the Peak District and used Eyam as a base. Fortunately the weather was good and only rained at night. The cottage had good parking for at least 3 bikes and was out of sight.
Spotted an interesting character in a front garden near Monsal Head.
Great four days spent at the Moto Guzzi factory open house event. The whole town embrace the event like only Italians could. And I got to test ride a new V7!
Sent my Stornello Sport America off to a new life in Devon with 91 year old club member John Hill. His 1953 Airone will be heading my way tomorrow.
The 1953 250 Airone sport has arrived. It will need a bit of tinkering and getting to know it, but it looks good.
Hi Don,
I have an A4 size Owner’s Handbook ( in Italian and English ) and a parts catalogue for the Airone. I sold my 1956 Sport and forgot to pass these on to the new owner.
If you want them, you can have them for free. Seems a shame to throw them away.
Wow, Thank you Richard, that would be fantastic. Let me know what you want for postage. I will message you to sort out the details.
A great day out on the Spada on the Taverners Section of the VMCC annual road trial exploring the back lanes on Leicestershire and Rutland.
Start ‘em young.
nice, red seems to be a less common colour for the v100 and it looks great
The best colour I think. And those gold wheels ![]()
The panniers look better colour matched too
