Fixed the sheared pin that secures the torsion bar on my Guzzi sidecar after an oncoming car made my side of the road too narrow.
Finally got her fixed after the crash last year, took a while finding the parts. Gear levers must be made of unobtainium!!
Left work early to get her MOT’D then she wouldn’t start ! Faulty relay fixed. MOT done though she does need the left handle bar straightened.
Just reinsured my MG Le Mans and the Honda Blackbird staying with Motorcycle Direct.
Both are fully comp, includes commuting, pillion cover, protected NCB, and the ‘Diamond Package’ i.e everything - national breakdown, legal cover, helmet and leathers.
Informed them of the various non standard features ( nothing power boosting ).
Age 64, no I.A.M. XS total = £300
This is in the East Yorkshire coastal area, locked in an integral garage.
This year= £140.63, last year = £153.39
Lovely EV what is the year.
51 on the plate
Bled the rear brake on my V9 bobber, after following the forum advice to remove the caliper so it was higher than the ABS unit before bleeding it took minutes, always pays to share learning and make others lives easier. Thank you.
Checked my inoculations were up to date and, passport in hand, took a trip Norf over the Humber Bridge to The Land of Yorkshire to join the local Boyz at their Seaways Cafe meet.
Despite their ruinous reputation, they seemed mostly house-trained, and with the aid of Google Translate I was able to make enough sense of the dialect to engage favourably..
Thanks for the welcome chaps, enjoyed meeting y’all and had a lovely ride in the sunshine
Washed the Breva using MucOff pre wash and warm water and also put a little ACF50 for the first time. 21 years old, looked a lot cleaner. Tomorrow is a ride and the weather is meant to be OK.
It was great to meet you Mick. I am pleased you learned the lingo before heding over the water
The bug count has really changed over the years, 20 - 30 years ago your screen would have been truly splattered, often it was hard to see through your visor and the bug-count was always an indicator to how fast you been blasting through the countryside.
I think it’s shocking how few are about these days.
Did you know, there’s a group, Buglife, who monitor bug numbers by checking ‘bug splatter’ on car number plates.. you can download an app, then clean you car number plate before a journey, take a photo afterwards and they collect the data to help understand the environmental changes..
I did wonder about that as I’m sure I’d heard of the reduced number of bugs etc. I bet you north wales is full of fat sparrows though as there were a lot of the bugs out. I flipped my helmet up for a bit to enjoy the weather but after feasting on a couple and coughing like I smoked senior service I decided to close it again. Thanks for the info though, I think I’ll have a look and do some bug counting for them.
I’ve been noticing this since I restarted biking in 2021 after a 30 year sabbatical. In the eighties I used to need to clean my visor twice a day in the summer, now I have rarely a mark.
Mind you, fairings and windscreens are a lot more efficient now compared to my LeMans II.
Not your imagination nor fairing/windshield efficiency, sadly. 60% reduction in flying insect population in 20 years, according to many sources. Easy to verify in your own garden if you have a lavender bush or similar.
Meanwhile, out on the Guzzi…
i remember trips in a car in the 70s and having to stop and scrape the insects off the windscreen if it was particularly warm and sunny because the washer/wipers couldn’t do it.
never had to do that since, although yesterday i noticed a big increase in splatter all over the bike windscreen compared to last week.
Please keep on topic, or start a bug thread
Sorry about the penguin!
I’ve ridden mine over a few Pelicans, but not a Penguin.. yet.!
Fitted an el cheapo Temu helmet lock to mine today.. cost less than £2 so it’s definitely made of cheese, but it’s only intended for quick cafe stops.
Looks good. I do hope it was our friends at Ali Express
