What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

I’ve got the temporary paint & tank on the bike. One day I’ll get my modified tank back!! :imp:

Lookin good…

Wow.

Supposed to be raining tomorrow so wanted to get the X10 mostly reassembled today ~ managed it by working thru 'til 8 pm ~ however I now have a worrying number of screws left over!

I can account for some, but not all. Had all the panels off at one stage, BUT I know they all were put on with a screw in every hole that will take one. So your guess is as good as mine!

Well just looked at the exploded diagram for some of the fairing parts, and think I can see where there’s a few omissions … oops …

If it’s the same one, that Magni lives in Great Bridgford. He comes to the Red House sometimes. Can’t remember his name…

No Ian…we spoke with the owner and his pal…they had ridden up from Suffolk…
Legend has it that there is that holy of holies…a Magni Australia…somewhere round Stafford…

All screws now accounted for, with homes to go to. Except one, cos I used a new one instead.

More bad news tho, having got the rear sidepanels and footboards back on, they indicate that there’s something weird going on with the rear wheel and transmission casing etc ~ it would appear that the swingarm is bent sideways
… foley huck …

Fitted the rear rack and pannier hangers onto the sport. Glad i took them off the Breva before i sold it.

Well, the guy with the Magni from Stafford turned up at Cosford today so I got his number and hopefully he’ll bring it to see us soon. I had 2 firsts for 2015 at Cosford today - sunburn, and a stretch of surface dressing on the way home.

O 'eck Miko…that sounds ominous…
We have had a cracking weekend…Stafford show on saturday…we got the bits we needed to finish the Triumph resto…then yesterday…rode out to Bike4Life at Cosford…visited the club stand nestling neatly under the wing of the Hercules…twas a beautiful day and there were thousands of bikes. We only live 30 odd miles from Cosworth and have never been there before…but we shall be going again…the Museum is fantastic !
On our return…Guy decided to get the Triumph going…this bike joined us in October of last year in boxes, Â and last nite it started second kick…running for the first time in 30 years…perfect end to a great weekend

Well I had a clear up in the garage, cut the grass and took some old shite to the dump (and he complained the whole damned way).

But then I didn’t find any distorted swing arms - so maybe now all bad.

As an aside to the previous pictures, I do have a modern repro of a Zeppelin pipe - supposedly safe for using underneath them big bags of hydrogen. It’s a lousy smoke though.

Those folks in the pic are looking up into a Vulcan Bomber…awesome !

Yesterday went to the Stafford Show, spent a few quid, went home via Knutsford, looked into the window at the McLaren car show room in the town centre, but as they were closed (8pm) decided not to buy one, likewise the £60,000 luxury electric car at the Tesia showroom a few doors away,

Had a great time at the McLaren dealers when I was looking at some work with Cheshire Life magazine. I’d turned up on the EV in my jeans and wax jacket. The journo/sales woman was mortified. Went in for the capes and champagne reception. Very warm welcome and lots of interest in the bike. “If we ever do Ferrari we’ll put on a bit of an Italian do for you”. No chance of the 95% discount I asked for 'though

Wheeled the Guzzi out for the Scottish trip part #1. While strapping the tent on notice a strong petrol smell. Sure nuff LH carb is leaking. Buggerbolloxpissdamn. Pull float chamber off to check float etc., all OK, even stops petrol when I push it up. Put it back together, OK! No more leaking! What was that all about then?

Consequently didn’t leave til 11:30am

Sounds like a speck of dirt on the needle? Disappeared when you took it apart.

I guess so!Â

Hmmmmm. I’ve found floats sticking down after a layup - Hardley did it to me just the other week. Just need a sharp tap on the float bowl and all was sorted. Your problem would presumably more likely be dirt though, unless you run the float bowls down by running after switching the fuel off?

I used to have a client who had baled out of a Vulcan.

No I don’t do that, I’m sure there’s some evaporation tho.

I was trying to use choke beforehand and pumping the twistgrip maybe that simply sucked up a lot? So coming down from the inlet or some such. Â

Yesterday broke the sidestand switch, I was booting it with my heel thinking it was the rubber peg to deploy the stand, doh! In a minute I’ll go and remove it to put out the dash warning lamp.Â

Appendix ~ might have solved the fuel crisis ~ a not very tight banjo boltÂ
