Rode him home from work…at a sedate pace commensurate with his age…and if you believe that…you’ll believe anything… ![]()
Had a pleasant bimble in the countryside on my new aquisition before returning home to pack for Scotland.
Dismantled the partially rebuilt V7Sport to put the clutch plates in the right way round!

Oh bum!
Just packing my smalls into the panniers on Blue. Heading off later - destination c. Oostende. Meeting up with one pal on his Griso and another on a Spada. Catching a band at the Motorcycle Loft Hotel - The Pink Moon Babies; a rockabilly triplet - all ladies and supposedly straight from the Toyota production lines in Tokyo.
well, yesterday as usual - took a look at my veh docs and sure enough the '09 V7 was expired MOT. The Cali was only six weeks left on it, so booked 'em both in at Bank Top in Billingham.
Going through the lights on the V7 and noticed one of the aux halogen spots was u/s, so set about de-rigging them. Re-mounting the tank later was difficult with the ethanol swelling, but still possible using a proper socket wrench for leverage, the thread tapped in the frame is putting up with this abuse well enough.
Bank Top is so Old School there’s a Bakelite phone still doing the sharp end of business. Prop. Mr Sanderson complimented the bikes, saying these were the interesting jobs nowadays, among the usual run of Japs and scooters. I like his patter: ‘Put this somewhere safe’, he goes as he pushes the Pass across the counter at you.
That’s been it with the bikes for a week or two, more time being devoted to sourcing and repairing a vintage record player of late. Living In The Past? yes please and got any more Tull?

All fascinating stuff! The fuel leak was persistant, STILL appears to be weeping banjo (I had the carb off today to make sure, naturally it’s LH side so banjo is otherwise inaccessible) tightened the bolt some more although I don’t like giving these bolts too much welly. Appears to have cured it now but who knows!

excellent run out on the Le Mans on the annual Wolds Run based around East Kirkby… we had a ride around the countryside (including a nice ;dice; with a Norton Commando on the way back
) , watched a lancaster bomber trundle around the airfield, and another flyover, large (herking fuge!) model aircraft and a chat with some friends…
took the cali to the Tour-de-Yorkshire, found a spot on the route away from the dozen deep spectators. near a MAG rally. and saw loads of motorcycles for the 1/2 hour wait for the cavalcade that is the tour.
Yesterday I fitted the front forks to my V7Sport rebuild project. I feel like I’m making progress again.

Got wet. my hands are a lovely shade of blue due to glove dye. …Think i’ll buy a campervan.
Had a fine but windy ride home from the Scottish…bit not before Red lost all his sparks and then threw himself on the ground in a hissy fit !..there he was…rolling round on his crashbars like a whale…Wainy soon had him up and running mind you …a bit of tlc called for methinx…
Looking for copper washers to fettle slight leak on rocker oil feed banjo, found someone selling a box of 100+ for £6 in all different sizes, some of which I can also use for the model steam engines, result! Unfortunately got carried away and also bought another steam engine and a 1/6 scale Douglas Dauntless R/C airplane kit. Oops, a bit of hiding stuff away from her indoors may be required.
Mine has decided to opt for total loss lubrication!
Managed to nurse it to the Travelodge at Shrewsbury by keeping it under 3,000 rpm after replacing 2 litres of lost oil at a filling station. Think the ball valve may be fcuk’ed…

Good job I stopped in a lay by soon after getting off the M6 to even notice the vast puddle under the breather vent hose. And It’s all over the rear tyre and disc too. This is very like how the Spada got seized many moons ago.Â
Â
While this was going on as if things weren’t complicated enough also had a short detour into Nantwich which I didn’t really want (lost again) but at least I’ve seen the A530 to Witchurch now. Â

O 'eck Miko…good luck for the second leg of the journey…xx
Not what I did with my Guzzi but what I did with my garage.
Cleared out more junk, sorted the rest out and now got plenty of room for the Beallagio I hope to pick up on 15 May.
Hey…nice one Mr D…
Indeed - You managed to get yourself a Bulageo? Excellent.
I got a hankering for a Jawa 2 stroke twin this week. Probly best ignored.
Good luck with the Bella, Ian, how much army surplus did you remove from the garage?
