What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

Blimey 0.2 - 0.3 mm!!! :open_mouth:

I long since swapped out the original chromed steel and rust prone brake pistons for what I take to be Teflon coated alloy replacements. Not a cheap upgrade, but I’ve never had to look at them since despite years of neglect and over many winters.

I have not used the old chromed ones for years but be aware that when the day comes and you do remove the Teflon pistons it might be a impossible job to refit them without fitting new seals inside the calipiers, so get the seal kits in before you remove the pistons,
When I removed the pistons I did see where the road salt had mixed with the rain water and left a small white tide mark around the top of the pistons.

The Bella and I escorted each other into Moscow today via the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus and Russia. 24 days and 6,120 km, or 3,803 miles in English money.

Yes, I know I could have flown here in 4 hours for thousands of rubles less, but Easyjet had no seats the day I wanted to travel, so I had no choice.

well done, safe and sound RG. that trip would kill a lesser man :exclamation:

i.e. moi

Blimey …

Well in other news, the salvage man (driving a huge double-decker car transporter) has literally just been to collect the remains of the X10, as the insurance Co. have deemed it a write-off and so will cough up the readies. Which means sometime next month (whenever it arrives) I’ll be on a new one! And it’ll be bianco perla! (pearl white)

Replaced the lot (seals and pistons) on my lemon about 10 years ago.
It cost little, was easy and I was amazed at the improvement in braking.

Good man, it reminds me of the bloke who did the lecture at the last Three Counties Rally.
He liked off roading in the Gobi Dessert.
When asked how long it took to get there he said ‘4 days, I leave in 2 days time’.

HBC Vehicle Services of the Canvey Isles?

The very same! Ah youse have had a brush with them also have you not? Despite you being on the West coast nevertheless they’d got hold of your crashed V7…

What a fabulous day today weatherwise! Was around Milton Keynes / Bedford area today ~ OK not on a bike but in the car, but if I was on a bike, fab biking weather, sunny, lots of pretty rural landscapes, pretty villages, and plenty nice roads and with all the trees and bushes on the verges in full blossom. Majik!

Took Rano the Red on our VMCC section run…Richards Chip Shop Run…lovely evening hoolying round the Peaks…Guy on his recently restored 69 Bonnie…Sutty on his SP 370 and the lads on a variety of old Brits…saw a black Stelvio come thro Longnor whilst we were eating our chips…nice run back in the gloaming…fires roaring…feet up…avin a beer…bikes eh…dontcha just love em…

Took the V65sp on a VMCc run around the Forest of Bowland, about 40 miles in total, just about 6 bikes , glad I took the 650 as the Cali EV would have been a handfull around some of the near empty B and C roads we went down, very little traffic nice runout. most of the time I was behind a big old AJS single really sounded nice!

Took “Ellie” to the MGCGB meet at Victoria and had a terrific ride, especially homeward when I went exploring.
I had two bright amber spots on going and had a woman pull out directly in front of me, luckily the sense developed by most motorcyclists that have reached a certain age had already anticipated her move, but even so it was a test for Ellie’s drum brakes. She just smiled at me.
On the way home I added my headlight which for some reason is a right Bobby Dazzler (much better than the Convert’s) and still unfortunately still points the American way. :open_mouth:

Did a bit of fettling on the V7 Stone. Refitted the Finebau Forge compensatoroonies after a spell of not. The last 400 miles have been ok (apart from very low speed kangaroo-ing) with the lambada sensors refitted so lets see what happens today on the trip to Eilean a’ Cheo. The Guzzi Diag was used to reset the error codes from the period of not having them fitted. The facility to reset / ecu relearn the lambdas hasn’t been used - yet!
Anyway it’s easy to disconnect them if trouble is occurring. Cluanie for coffee r.v. with the rest of the reprobates - now, where’s me oversuit?.

Well I feel guilty apart from moving my breva in and out of the garage I have done nothing to it
the builders from hell have finally completed the nuclear bunker next door and are now building the decking, So i am expecting rats any time soon
the rifle has been cleaned and tested ready
in guilt I ordered a nice new touring screen for the breva, I have fitted a puig one but I dont like the fittings on the bars, it makes for much better riding when its cold and wet
I have also ordered some spare cables to hide in the panniers
I have also had the pannier frames and rack plastic coated to remove the marks
its never ending
and hopefully if the weather is nice between working for both daughters this weekend I will service the bike and get it ready for an MOT
all I need to do is find an MOT tester, three have gone in our area !!

It’s been a beautiful day here in Welsh Wales so I’ve been out on the V7 loop just aimlessly riding around.

This week I’ve test fitted the seat and tank etc to my V7Sport. Looks nice but I’ve got to do some work on that seat.

I’ll have to take a break from working on the bike for a week or two as I’m away for a week. Then there’s some house DIY to do. I’ll have to leave updating my blog till I get back.

I’ve not ridden mine since the John Maris run, but I finally got my vacuum gauges back this week so balanced the carbs this afternoon. As suspected one was opening a shade before the other but bang-on together now. A colleague borrowed them to do his ZX6R about 5 months ago - I know he’s got 4 carbs to sort and the tank and airbox have to come off, so would take a bit longer to do. Mine took 15 minutes, some of which was getting the bike out and warming it up enough to idle. Got the week off work so hopefully we’ll get a decent day and I can be excused DIY.

Very nice John!
