What did you do with your Guzzi today ? .......

Busy weekend ahead, so day off today, and a wonderful potter around the Peak District on the Breva 1100, with a mate on his GS1200. The new lower foot and toe pegs work a treat - at last the gear lever is in the right place relative to the foot rest The engine did die as I pulled to a stop on three occasions, but started again immediately; gave it a good thrash towards the end of the run, and everything seemed OK again.

Early start from Gainsborough to Caister
The the full length of Caister High Street
Then Bardney and comprehensively getting lost cutting across to Bassingham.
Ended up on a single track road with a choice of the wheel tracks which came with free pot holes or the centre of the road which had grass and gravel on it
Bassingham to Doddington Hall for a top Full English Breakfast
Then home and still have time for some weeding to keep the other half happy

Bit the bullet and mail ordered a pair of new tyres for the ‘mongrel’ (Guzzi 850), really should have ones that were at least made in or near this decade for a change, methinks… Pirelli Demons ~ been umming and arring all morning whether to use a Venom A41 on the front and “summat else” on the back, but can’t find a suitable “summat else” 'cept Pirelli ~ so sod it let’s put Pirelli’s on both ends. Cheapest from mytyres.co.uk (a gnat’s over 160 quid, “free postage”) Next cheapest, Round & Black on fleaBay.

Changed the gearbox and bevel oil on the Centauro this morning and then had a THUNDEROUS afternoon out on it in my beloved Northumberland.

Looking seriously good (and yellow), bet it’s great to ride too…

I’ll bet…

I wheeled mine out of the garage and swept the floor.
My son Nikko was coming over on his Stevio and bringing an old mate of ours that i hadn’t seen for around ten years, on his (new-to-him) '09 1200 Breva

I had some ‘suds’ chilling in the friggo, as it really hit the high numbers here early afternoon, so we sat in the sun on the patio and shot the breeze for a while until the Breva had cooled a little.

Then we fitted a (muffle muffle) to his bike, which unfortunately meant dropping the starter motor out on that model, and then did the deed…Of course the two bolts had sort of been assembled dry and were showing signs of rust on the threads, but in a jiffy, the petite boite noir was in place and we cleaned up before bidding each other tata, and thy fired up and went.

…Then i went on the piss.

That bike is far too beautiful to be allowed out in public .

Thanks guys, yes i must admit i really do love the Centauro although i always feel i end up riding the thing harder than the Cali and that is no slouch.

Today whilst in Corbridge a middle aged Power Ranger on his GSXXBRWACKANACKI asked me if the Guzzi was supposed to sound “sort of noisy” like that.
I said to him, Don’t worry, yours will never end up sounding like that.
That my friend is called character!

superb ride to Lincoln on almost empty roads during the FA cup final.

Daz your centauro looks brill ,I think its a great looking bike so different wish I got one when you could buy for £1500.
IM also loving them cali vintage as pictured above

Yes Steve, that Cali Vintage hits the spot for me as well.

That said i will hang onto my old 75th Anniversary Cali as it is such a good bike.

The Centauro is every bit as good to own and ride as i hoped it would be when i took a chance on it as a non runner in October. In all fairness with just 5k on the clock it probably isn’t even fully run in yet!

Holm Moss then the snake pass. Enough miles on now for the first service on Thursday.

Had a bimble around the Leicestershire lanes on a Taverners run. Lovely day for it.

We took two of ours on the VMCC Museum Run, which started at Froghall Station…
Around 80 miles of lanes and minor roads around the Peak District, done on superb route instructions…
A coffee stop at Chatsworth, across the road from the big ‘house’…here we met a nice chap called Dave, who showed us his lovely old Bevel…
On to the lunch stop and then back to the station at Froghall…all on lairy old bikes and in stunning weather…ohhh…such days as these…
‘Hold those curtains wide…one day a year like this will see us right…’

Smashin.

Had a good old plonk round on the Le Mans in an open-face lid, enjoying the sunshine and countryside. No records were broken. Bloody marvellous.

Had an early morning outing - short but perfectly formed. Gwent is a beautiful county and all the better for a lack of traffic (the speed cowboys don’t seem to get out of bed until 10ish by which time I was home for coffee in the garden).

Then we went for a pleasant 7 mile walk along the Brecon and Monmouth Canal.

Went to the welsh branch meet at Pisgah for lunch, 250 wonderful miles on a perfect spring day and 17 other people agreed with me, a great turn out.

A bimble round the Peak District on the Griso 1200. The hot weather brought out the bugs - glad I had a full face lid, and had to stop 3 times to clear the gunge off the visor!

Home, Macclesfield, Cat& Fiddle, Brierlow Bar, Ashford-in-the-water, Flagg, Monyash, Hartington, Hulme End, Sheen, Longnor, Gradbach, Wincle, Bosley, Chelford to refuel, home.

Clean bugs off bike!

That Termi pipe sounds ‘the business’!
